he's not riding the vuelta, they already left that message to the press 2 days ago.

he's riding colorado, canadian 1-day races and italian 1-day races.

I like his chances in Colorado. We can only assume that he's taking this Tour relatively easy, just doing training kms as build up for new targets. (At least, that's what I hope.)

I'd love to see him excel in Colorado--though I must admit, I'd rather see him do the Tour of Utah...

Gesink was only able to sleep for a whole night since yesterday appearently.
Before that he woke up at least once a night because he rolled on the wrong side of his body.

He has both bruised ribs and bruised back and they couldn't even massage his back until yesterday because it was still too sensitive. I don;t understand why Rabobank didn't pull him out at that point

he might sleep better if you stop peeping tomming at his bedroom window. ;)

Lol, you think he took it easy when he got 25th yesterday? :D

He did take it easy since failing on the Tourmalet though. Only yesterday and today he wants to go full to at least show he is still alive. And to know what his level currently is. To know where his form stands after all that sh.t

Well yes, but at the same time anyone can get sick. Unless it becomes a pattern I don't think you can read too much into it.
I see a pattern here. Sorry.

Taaramäe is 1.33 behind Rolland and he took 2.57 out of Rolland in the upcoming TT at dauphine.
So , which one will take the white home?

Yes, put the point is that you can't go soft on every freaking time trial you do. Taaramäe was soft too in Dauphine in that case, was like 100th in the overall

I suspect Taaramae was coming into the tour with more ambition then rolland tho, and thus might have gone hard on the stage to see where he was at.

Not saying Rolland will win, just suggestion a reasoning why he is so far behind.

maybe he'll get owned tomorrow.

At this point I'd expect Rolland to win the stage, never mind the white jersey.

Previous TT's for these youngsters might not mean anything, because there is no way of knowing how serious or how hard they were riding.

I'm not sure history tells us very much. Rolland's history didn't really indicate what he's done in this Tour. Taaramae is a pretty consistent rider but he's never been in quite this situation either.

I'll be happy whichever one wins it. Rolland has been a star of the Tour but he has a big stage win already so I'll also be happy if Taaramae takes the jersey and some glory for himself.

Just a quick notice about the white jersey, it seems that it's been bringing lots of bad luck to the wearer! Or maybe not bad luck, but just bad legs right after getting the jersey!
1) Geraint Thomas - had to wait Wiggins and lost 3 minutes and the white jersey.
2) Robert Gesink - crashed (ok, he got the white later, but still the back pains held him from succeeding with it to Paris)
3) Arnold Jeannesson - Really fading the next mountain stage and suffered with about 3-4 minutes of loss to Uran
4) Rigoberto Uran - A crash, illness and just bad legs and fading
5) Rein Taaramäe - fading badly the very next stage after getting there

So tomorrow is the jersey on the shoulders of Rolland, will we have number 6??

LOL. Good analysis.

I am going to jump and tell you mine.

Just by looking at the way they ride (position), Taaramae has the advantage.

Based on recovery Rolland looked superb today, but he could be tired tomorrow just because of his effort.

I think Taaramae will get it.:)

Surprise, surprise. Rolland put out a good ITT and kept the jersey.

More importantly:
22. COPPEL Jérôme 211 SAUR-SOJASUN 58' 24" + 02' 51"
122. URAN Rigoberto 118 SKY PROCYCLING 1h 02' 24" + 06' 51"

"Blah blah chest infection blah blah". Don't care! I'll fetch the Andy avatar.

Rolland was surprisingly good, even too good tbh. Minus 2 minutes in comparison to the 3rd stage of Dauphine at the end of a 3-week GT.

LOL.

He was not even trying.

Uran is very talented but it lacks consistency.

I am waiting for Henao and Duarte to make an appearance in the Tour. I am not putting too much hope in Uran until he decides to ... (be more consistent)

In hindsight Gesink would have indeed won this easily if he was in any kind of shape... last year 6th tour

This year white jersey winner is 11th. meh

Well we have Duarte to look forward to in a month dont we?

And Henao will probably do the Tour next year being to Wiggins what Rolland was to Voeckler - stronger rider dragging him along.

Though i hope either Uran or Henao are given Giro- Vuelta leadership.

The problem is Duarte was unable to train for much longer than expected, so I doubt he will be in top shape. Uran is also supposed to be doing the Vuelta.

Keep in mind that Rolland sacrificed a fair amount of time working for Voeckler for 10 days. He even looked like he was going to follow Schleck's attack on Thursday until he saw that he'd dropped TV and fell back to help him.
