Taaramäe ripped the group to pieces with his attack today, only the Schlecks, bertie, Tommy V, Sanchez and a few more were able to follow, Uran fell off the back straight away, great descending tho by Uran

indeed. he was way behind but rode excellent downhil. it seems he is tryly changing back to the rider he was as junior/first year pro with his sprint, itt and downhil and reducing the damage on the climbs

rolland sucks so hard in downhils and itt he's no threat

Downhill isn't particularly relevant in the coming stages. But with the ITT, you're right. Uran would have to absolutely blow up in the mountains to lose enough time on Rolland.

Uran cracked today.

Amazing ride from Taaramae, since before the Tour even started I saw him as the second favourite (behind Gesink) to get the white jersey, it's pretty close between him and Rolland, but Rein has an advantage over him on the time trial.

Very happy that Taaramäe is realising his 3 week potential. Shame about Uran. That was not very nice, Cadel.

Taaramäe rode better than I expected in the real mountains. No real surprise about Urán - I maintain he lacks consistency.

Rolland is the phantom menace. I knew it. :D

If today was just un jour sans for Uran then he has a real shot at taking the jersey back tomorrow, but I suspect he might be too fatigued.

I would agree with you if it was only him vs Taaramae - the Estonian is prone to bad days too - but Rolland looks indestructible.

Taaramae was amazing today, he dropped with around 5km (ish?) to go and still finished eight (higher than Contador to name one). In his first year as a pro I thought he would be the next big thing but the progress stalled after that.
Seems like he has found his way again.

Rolland will lose ALOT in the TT anyway so I would've doubted his chances from the start because of it. Did a good TT on the same course in Dauphine but still lost 3 minutes to Taaramäe

There is some slim chance. Historically Uran has done horrible on one stage only. So there is hope for something good tomorrow. That that is pushing the envelope IMHO, because of the effort he put out today.

Uran is a good TT, but it could be a moot point by saturday.

So is Taaramae, I think he's better than Uran there.

Uran has a chest infection.
Yeah, this is what Thomas had to say:

Thomas explained exactly how the day had panned out for both himself and Urán, saying: "Rigoberto was struggling from the off with a chest infection today, he went off the back on the second climb but we managed to get him back on, and then he crashed halfway down the descent of it.

"We were all protecting him though leading onto the Galibier and then myself and Xabi paced him up that final climb. I had to wait for him a few times but it was a matter of trying to get him to the top as quickly as possible and limiting the damage from his rivals for the white jersey.

This being the case, it seems likely he will lose more time tomorrow, unfotunately.

Health is part of being consistent. Ask Tom Danielson.

I feel bad for Uran. Hope he gets better but I doubt it.

Young riders are messed up with health this tour it seems, Taaramäe has been struggling with stomach pains (most of the cofidis is actually for some reason.., especially Moncoutie.)

Well yes, but at the same time anyone can get sick. Unless it becomes a pattern I don't think you can read too much into it.

Gesink was only able to sleep for a whole night since yesterday appearently.
Before that he woke up at least once a night because he rolled on the wrong side of his body.

He has both bruised ribs and bruised back and they couldn't even massage his back until yesterday because it was still too sensitive. I don;t understand why Rabobank didn't pull him out at that point

Clearly they should have pulled him out and aimed 100% for the Vuelta. Now he might be too fatigued...

he's not riding the vuelta, they already left that message to the press 2 days ago.

he's riding colorado, canadian 1-day races and italian 1-day races.
