In North American cross, Andrew Strohmeyer and Helene Clauzel have both swept the 4 USCX races to date. Sidney McGill has three 2nds and a 3rd, in addition to winning both days of the Englewood weekend prior to the start of USCX.
I don’t think the Holmgrens or Honsinger have been in any of those races. Do you know what their plans are for the season? Perhaps one or both Holmgrens are at the road WCs?

Only Ava has been selected, but I don't know whether that's because Isabella is in more need of rest at the moment.

You'd think it's probably rest; a busy summer with MTB World Cups, Olympic MTB race, Tour de l'Avenir, then MTB Worlds - she's still only 18.......

Burquier over raced in both MTB & CX for a couple of seasons, and her form went missing last season. I think she's only recently come back.

The twins have turned 19 now, but it's of course still very important to keep them from both over training and over racing at this stage of their careers.

Helene Clauzel keeps her perfect record for the season is US crosses. US champ Eric Brunner knocked off Andrew Strohmeyer in the second race at Charm City (Baltimore) to give the latter his first loss of the season.

The first cross broadcast (available to me, that is, on Flo) is just over a week away at Beringen.

The flobikes calendar had the race on the 8th. Makes sense that it wouldn't be on a Tuesday!

And Leonie Bentveld has extended with Pauwel Sauces-Bingoal, but will ride on the road with AG Insurance-Soudal.

'If I knew, I would tell you'
Mathieu van der Poel still to decide on CX plans

If I Could Tell You - W. H. Auden, 1940

Time will say nothing but I told you so,
Time only knows the price we have to pay;
If I could tell you I would let you know.

If we should weep when clowns put on their show,
If we should stumble when musicians play,
Time will say nothing but I told you so.

There are no fortunes to be told, although,
Because I love you more than I can say,
If I could tell you I would let you know.

The winds must come from somewhere when they blow,
There must be reasons why the leaves decay;
Time will say nothing but I told you so.

Perhaps the roses really want to grow,
The vision seriously intends to stay;
If I could tell you I would let you know.

Suppose all the lions get up and go,
And all the brooks and soldiers run away;
Will Time say nothing but I told you so?
If I could tell you I would let you know.

To be honest, Gravel is already a bigger than CX to the manufacturers; I'd guess there were more countries represented the weekend gone than in a CX Worlds.
CX has had 100+ years to become truly global; Gravel is getting there in about 10-15 years.

CX still easily outpaces gravel for race registrations in the Canadian province where I live. But there are definitely more gravel bikes being sold.

In the U.S. I’m sure there are now more registered (for tournaments) pickleball players than competitive tennis players. Most of them in the last 5 years. That doesn’t mean pickleball has eclipsed tennis in significance.

CX is really only significant in 1, maybe 2 countries - and that's always been the problem. It's behind road, track, MTB almost everywhere else. Gravel will soon overtake it. I don't know why people have an issue with this view. It's had 100 years to become global, but hasn't; every other discipline manages to grow.

World Cup juniors is probably the most competitive area, with French, Italians, Swiss et al in the top 10s. Come U23/Elite, they've disappeared, and it's mainly Benelux.

I realize cyclocross is a very niche sport. Discus throw has existed for at least 3 thousand years but does not have a global following. But I consider it a more significant sport than corn-hole toss. Just a matter of perspective I guess.
There’s also geography—some of the cross races in Seattle draw decent crowds. There are no gravel races in Seattle.
