I think Pidcock would have had a hard time beating Niuewenhuis shouldn't he have had that late flat, and clearly both Van der Poel and Van Aert are a couple of numbers too large for the rest.

ps. I've yet to watch Heusden-Zolder and may have to reevaluate above :)

Iserbyt is not very popular. He also gets booed when he races against a Baloise-Trek rider, even if it's Lars van der Haar. With Van der Poel it is a Belgian vs. Dutch thing, but Van der Poel is as Belgian as a Dutchman can possibly get so that's a little ridiculous. Mostly just drunk people.

Watched Gavere it seemed like Pidcock was better supported than Iserbyt. I like em all tbh!

Now I think I can guess why Iserbyt isn’t the most popular rider but in my eyes he’s not dramatically different than for example Evenepoel but RE is not getting booed?

Further this year I believe the Trek-Baloise riders have come down pretty tough on Iserbyt. In particular Nys and Ronhaar have been quite rough on the course. Van der Haar and also Nieuwenhuis seem like very nice guys, always riding smartly and fair.

It's a bit of payback time, in previous years these tactics have mostly been used by the Pauwels riders, and Iserbyt in particular. That's also why he's not that popular, I think. He rubs some people the wrong way. But, from his standpoint I would argue: better to be hated than to be ignored.

I didn't like Iserbyt initially, don't even know why, perhaps it was a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy because I had heard he wasn't very popular, but he has grown on me the last couple of years.

In all fairness he doesn’t do much else than the other guys but I guess it’s his demeanor. At Heusden-Zolder Iserbyt rode strong and took it on when Van Aert decided to put the hammer down. He took turns despite knowing that Van Aert would attack him later on. Nieuwenhuis another solid race and very impressive ride by Tibor del Grosso. Many strong riders missing but it still was an exciting race. As stated earlier none of the top riders can really challenge Van Aert other than Van der Poel. Those two are quite exceptional.

Yes and Toon Aerts was generally the number 1 recipient of the Pauwels workover. Poor Toon, now that Baloise has numbers and is taking the fight to Pauwels Toon isn't a part of it anymore.

He just seems to be cocky (Napoleon complex?), and I seem to remember stories of him throwing fits in years past, particularly when he was racing Pidcock. Pidcock and Iserbyt have no love loss between them.

It's interesting to me what makes some riders popular and others more 'disliked', especially when it's not obvious.

I mean, I dislike Pidcock, just because he seems like a cocky doosh. But it's not like I know him or actually dislike him personally.

And I like him (Though I can see why you have your opinion), because he also seems like he has a good nature to him. He jokes, and even tried to do an interview in Dutch earlier this year (with very poor results...but he tried).

I dislike Iserbyt, because of the reasons I listed. He just seems like a punk. EDIT: Though I do give him respect for at least trying to stay with Wout yesterday. He fought hard.
