Two really interesting races in Belgium and the Netherlands with Nys and Del Grosso defending their titles.

In Belgium, Nys and Vanthourenhout quickly got a gap and then Nys dropped Vanthourenhout around the 30 minute mark. When all looked settled Verstrynge came back in the last laps and even caught Nys but had no power left to overtake him in the end.

In Netherlands, Del Grosso dropped everyone in the first laps but after around the 30 minute mark, Ronhaar managed to come back and even got a small gap after a crash from Del Grosso. Tibor quickly came back to Ronhaar, dropped him and then in the last two laps, Van der Haar came from behind, dropped Ronhaar but was unable to catch Del Grosso who won with a few seconds gap.

Retirement couldn't keep Meisen from winning in Germany. He isn't made of porcelain.

Hmm... he appears to be doing retirement slightly... wrong...

In Denmark, Weis won for the 3rd year in a row.
Fini was 2nd and Groenendaal 3rd.

Lisbygd won the women's race ahead of Foldager and Splittorf.

Anna Flynn won the womens UK, Cams now a 4x champ, shame about the pay wall might have been fun to watch.
Unfortunately not, other than all mens race slipping and sliding down a muddy bank which was amusing, the coverage was awful. To be fair it was mainly due to the wind, but only one camera working and a commentator who had very limited knowledge of what was happening.
I think I enjoyed lasts years coverage with a mobile phone better, at least the spectator commentating understood what was happening.
Spend your £3 on something worthwhile.

Edit: now free on youtube.

I did see there was a spectator live streaming again, not the same one as last year, but the course looked too spread out for them in the one spot to be able to do much but keep talking about the weather and identify a few riders as they passed, and I wouldnt bother with the £3 official version as its almost rewarding bad behaviour by the governing body

Just out of curiosity; when is the Australian National Championships?
They just had their road national championships, I don't suppose they also had their CX national championships at the same time...

Australia and New Zealand held their championships on the 16th and 31st of August respectively.

Really exciting men's race for the Belgian title. Nys the deserved champion. And yes his cautious tactics at the end were very cold-blooded, but a strong Verstrynghe made it more nervewrecking than anyone expected. Kudos to them both.

Maybe Moor's handlers (S. Nys?) thought she had a good chance to take the jersey: the little mud flower slid out three (or four?) times and still finished just 17 seconds behind MNR.
It's a rule. Anyone with a WT-contract can't compete in U23 nationals. So even at 18 she wasn't able to claim that title, since she already was a part of Lidl-Trek. Shame, in my opinion. In the world cup and world championship races, it's different.

Also... does 'Schoeshitter' mean what I think it means?
Her name is Shanyl De Schoesitter, which probably derives from an old word for 'shoemaker'. So to answer your question: no.

Dutch women's race and Belgian men's race should both be interesting.
Turns out the Dutch women's race actually wasn't that interesting, it was already decided after two laps or so :) Brand not her usual self, and Puck very much her usual self with a mistake that took her out of contention. That left Alvarado to pick up the prize.

The men's race was better, maybe mostly because the course didn't particularly suit Del Grosso, and it did suit Ronhaar and Van der Haar. On the other hand, Del Grosso made a few mistakes, he even crashed, and he still won, so how close was it really.

Great racing in tricky conditions , Dutch men's race was also good but why did there appear to be so few spectators.
I see so many more at World Cup , Superprestige events.
Cyclocross really isn't as big in the Netherlands as some people seem to think. At the Worlds it will probably be different, because MVDP will be there, and it's just across the Belgian-Dutch border.
