I ride Ibis. I support small business over huge multi-national companies trying to put small businesses out of business. Ibis doesn't make ANY bikes outside of the US.

I ride bikes that are made one at a time, by hand, on order.

I know exactly where my bikes are made.

Canada
US
Italy

Well, mine are steel and alum, and they were made in the US. I didn't know the carbon was made in China...guess I will have to by IF or something next time...</humblepie>

Cervello Project California is the frame for you then. 100% US made, right here in Cali, only $9800 frame and fork, but the manufacturing process meets all EPA standards. Put your money where your mouth is, I say.

Nevertheless, Johan has stated that it was one of the team's biggest goals for the season after the Tour. More lies to spread to the world about a French bias (ASO own 49% of Unipublic, who organise the Vuelta), I guess.

At the end of the day though, like them or hate them its just crap that a Protour team is not included in a GT.

Give Bagster--err, SpartacusRox--some credit. Obviously the RS talking points had not been formulated yet. The team was still undecided about whether the official story would be that they never wanted to go the Vuelta or that their exclusion had damaged the sport and scared away sponsors.

You're a classic;)

Can see how that would be good if you were afraid of getting mad cows disease from riding them. Not sure if it is really a major issue otherwise:)

Do you enjoy engaging in petty insults?

Lol, yeah he does Rich, I usually try not to respond to guys like McKnuckle- head these days. The Fanboy 'insult' is their default setting. Actually I am not a fanboy of anyone in particular, except maybe FC but I guess when you obsessively hate a particular rider, anyone else is a fanboy.

agree but to be honest, i dont think it's bryuneel's inborn trait but his infamous celebrety's from texas that got rubbed on..

long gone are the days when a humble belge was himself and now is merely an ugly reflection of the hugest arrogant prijck there ever was in cycling (and i do know the badger personally)

Did you get this worked up when Katyusha were excluded from the 2009 Vuelta? Or when Fuji-Servetto were excluded from the 2009 Tour?

I remember the rider Bruyneel as an arrogant ***.

Still the only guy to have ever managed to blatantly annoy the calm, unflappable Induráin. And solely on the basis of riding with a complete and utter lack of fair play.

Ah well... not a big deal with RS being left out of the Vuelta, but I'm disappointed that the only RS rider I'll get to see lead a GT is Lance.

I would have liked to see Levi, Brajkovic, Kloden or Horner get a chance to ride for themselves in a GT this year.

Missing 2 of the 3 GTs and having your season effectively curtailed by August is not a big deal?
I suppose from a certain US perspective, there could only be, one big deal.

Bruyneel: I'm speechless we weren't invited. It was one of our goals for the year.
RS Fanboys: Who cares? It's no big deal. RS didn't care about this race anyway.

Talking point fail, fellas. Time to go back to fanboy camp and get the right memo.

Speaking of Ibis though, they reached their apex with their titanium softtail. Magnificent bike.

I wonder now, with the benefit of hindsight, how many of the riders on RS are looking at their year, their bank accounts and really wondering what the hell happened to their careers?

Very few races run. No opportunity for any individual glory and being completely used up in support of one ego-maniac.

Sad comments.

There are an important 5 characters in that post that would prevent me from buying that frame...plus I generally want to still ride steel or maybe Ti. I have ridden carbon and loved it, but the old guy in me knows that the weight savings are nice but not essential because of my goals for riding, and the fact that it is the motor and not the machine anyway. I opt for a more classic feel, and steel just feels right to me.

It will be a while before I buy a new bike anyway. Going to law school means that my 100% commission sales job is bound to suffer a little, so my expectation is that money is going to get pretty tight. I will just have to wait.

If you make a list of the strongest teams invited to Spain, and compare them to the team RS was proposing to send, I think RS could stack up well against any of them. Very well.

Sky gets an invite and admits that Wiggins probably isn't on the team. RS proposed to send three riders who rival Wiggins and they get left out. Pathetic.

One rider maybe. LL and Kloden will be worn out from trying to get Armstrong into the top 10 of the Tour. Deserved.

What is pathetic is the whining of a team that makes it clear that they only have one leader and one goal, and every other race can just deal with the fact that they will be using their race a training, or in the case of those races after the Tour, using it go get more air time from commentators mentioning Armstrong even though he may or may not be in the race.

I suspect the owners of the Vuelta simply didn't want to pay the undoubtedly exorbitant appearance fee that RS were probably demanding for deigning to show up at that "cute little race"

The owners do - after all - own the race. They can do what they want interms of inviting, or not, teams.

The race is in Spain. They want Spanish teams and teams that feature Spanish riders. Given AC's treatment at le Tour last year, is it any surprise that JB's team is persona non grata at Unipublic?
