Another Radioshack fail: No Vuelta invite.

Apparently they didn't put LA on their list of potential Vuelta riders.

They're the only pro-tour team not to get a Vuelta invite.

I'm kind of surprised, really. Did the Vuelta do that out of spite because of no-show LA or is Leipheimer too much damaged goods? Kloeden and Brajkovic were on the shortlist.

Oops, I saw this was discussed in its own thread.

I now feel like Contador caught in a cross wind.

Amazing how no one has congratulated RS for their Dauphine win. Just a touch of anti RS bias perhaps.

This was a bloody good result considering they were in there with a second string team, essentially only three of their better riders in JB, CH and Pauliniho.

As to why no invite, who knows, who cares, its not a race that they would have been too focussed on anyway.

So is this why Trek is so despised on this site? I sort of liked them because they were one of the few big mfgs still making frames here (you know, jobs and all that).

Yeah, I despise any company that auctions bikes and gives $1.5 Mill to a cancer foundation. Other bike companies are doing so much more for humanity:rolleyes:

Nevertheless, Johan has stated that it was one of the team's biggest goals for the season after the Tour. More lies to spread to the world about a French bias (ASO own 49% of Unipublic, who organise the Vuelta), I guess.

I ride Ibis. I support small business over huge multi-national companies trying to put small businesses out of business. Ibis doesn't make ANY bikes outside of the US.

Does Livestrong really do anything other organizations were not already doing before Pharmstrong came on the scene? I know the answer because I have worked for organizations that deal with cancer and other diseases.

Lance is swimming in cancer awareness at his various homes...turns out prostituting pictures of people suffering from cancer pays pretty well.

I think the Vuelta people have correctly figured out that RadioShack will be wasted by the TDF and would be unlikely to field a competitive team for the Vuelta this year. Really, who is on Radioshack that would likely be able to appear at the Vuelta? Certainly not Armstrong, not Leipheimer, not Kloden, not Horner, not Brajkovic. Mr. Bruyneel should just shut up about all the injustices. He is just another Armstrong junkie, like the rest of the hangers on on that team (now there's a tongue twister for you). This team is filled with a bunch of old farts and is totally overrated. ANNNNND, do you think Spain is going to invite Mr. (I screwed Contador) Bruyneel? ANNNNNNND do you think that the weenie Armstrong will ever have the guts to show up in Spain for any event, ever? Really, forget about it. The Vuelta people have restored my faith in humanity.

Yes, all things considered an impressive win, I think, considering it was their second-stringers. And Brak's performance is probably partially due to the bolded stuff above--which is definitely NOT just a RS habit.

Am puzzled by the Vuelta snub.

Doh! Because this is the Radioshack-fail thread. Feel free to resurrect any of the 'RS is the best since sliced bread'-threads from last year. I'll congratulate Janez in there.

Thats allright the haters did not watch the Dauphine. It is a second tier race to them similar to the ToC, Gila, Nevada City Leadville.

I'm insulted that you didn't include the Tour of Utah. What the hell, man? ToU is easily on par with the Dauphine! I think it's telling that the Euros are afraid to come over here and do these races. Cowards.

The Criterium du Dauphine IS for all intents and purposes a second tier race. In fact, it is actually a "prep" race for the "BIG SHOW" that starts on July 3rd. As for the ToC, Gila, Nevada City Leadville, those aren't even 2nd tier races. Truthfully, please, Aside from the ToC, let's see how much anybody cares about or follows the other races you've mentioned, once LA hangs up his cleats.
I'm am AC fan, and I watched the Dauphine with a critical eye, to be able to understand AC's progress. Janez has been a long time favorite young rider for me. I rated him as one of the most "underrated" in that thread, and I'm glad he was successful in the Dauphine, it proved my point. But without Chris Horner and Janez Brajkovic,(and S. Rosseler too) This has been a very lean year for RS, whether RS fans want to admit it or not. The sun has to set. Enjoy the show.

Apparently Bruyneel cares a lot, fanboy. Maybe you should ask him why.

Give Bagster--err, SpartacusRox--some credit. Obviously the RS talking points had not been formulated yet. The team was still undecided about whether the official story would be that they never wanted to go the Vuelta or that their exclusion had damaged the sport and scared away sponsors.

Good to know.

As to Trek trying to put small businesses out of business, any business trying to grow is going to try to gain sales from it's competitors (the market is only so large, opportunity cost, etc). Who is Ibis taking business from?
