If the horrendous conditions were not enough, riders at RadioShack were voicing frustration after feeling singled out by anti-doping controllers, with the Shack’s Andreas Klöden and Jani Brajkovic getting tested again before Saturday’s start.

According to a report on the team’s web site, sport director Alain Gallopin said, “One-third of their controls this week have been on our riders.”

The team reported that Brajkovic has been tested four times and Klöden, a winner of Thursday’s road stage, eight times in seven days.

Well if you are gonna be dirty, youve got to expect to be tested. Clearly the AFLD know something we dont.

So, only 36 tests in total at a one week stage race with over 150 cyclists? Doesn't seem like a lot to me.

Anyway the testing sets an example; you cannot feel safe if you got tested yesterday, we might come again tomorrow!

Daily tests will be awesome for a passport case. I wish they took blood each day. Explain a day-to-day difference (improvement) in values, when you're racing too much to recover overnight.

Most tested athletes, most tested team.
Who would have guessed lol.

The AFLD/UCI tradition continues.

Although the budget has been cut out 70 checks for eight days. The main difference respect to last year is that many of them have been by surprise and 'run', according to the medical information available. Brajkovic complained that he and his teammate Andreas Klöden, had to be screened after hours after the individual time trial and before a more demanding stage.

"run" was the Google Translation for ‘dirigidos’ if someone could help us with that.

I wonder what it was that the lab people were seeing that caused them to spend so many of their visits on the two? Remember that the AFLD has access to information from French police, Interpol and Customs as well, not that it necessarily came into play here.

Maybe the UCI is trying up their average. Very little testing for a number of years, then a season where they're at the door everyday...

Or maybe they have some inside information...

Klodi was the Most Tested Athlete in the World last week.
Who could have been tested more?

Of course, Klodi has a long long way to go to reach the top of the All-Time List of Most Tested Athlete in the World. That record is truly out of reach. Never see it happen again probably.

Talk about a tempest in a teapot. Klodi is 2nd overall and a stage winner. Yes, he should get tested every day.

Hello? Where is the surprise in that?

That someone actually followed the obvious protocol for a change?

Sounds like lobbying by the riders to let them dope in peace.

Here's the original quote in its entirety:
The day started with yet another knock on the door by the French antidoping office AFLD, testing riders Brajkovic and Klöden again. Tean Director Alain Gallopin said, “One third of their controls this week have been on our riders.” Jani commented that while he is “100% for controls,” he would appreciate if they could be conducted “in a human way. No arrogance. They treat us as a criminal.” It was a fourth control during Paris-Nice for Brajkovic, and a seventh for Andreas. After the stage, Andreas was controlled again, making for eight controls in seven days.

Watched Wales vs Ireland Saturday..also watched some of the the Man City game..probably an equal number of athletes involved in both matches. Take out that one sport you like better than another, the reason cycling is such a mess and is a financial struggle for most involved is the federation.
The 6 nations tourney would never dream of smearing their sport through the mud. The reason Man City filled every seat and sold millions in TV revenues is because they wouldn't think to devalue the product with a stupid twitter post. 36 tests is dumb, expensive, excessive and ruins the fan base for the sport.
If 8 of 36 test were done on Kloden somebody should lose their job..after all they damaged the sport by 100's of thousands of euros by looking like they are biased against one team or another

NCAA tourney started this week and generated millions of dollars.wonder how many tests they did. They would probably have to do the tests off site because all available space is used to store cash. Cycling is run by idiots, the races and racers are of the highest quality but the organization is f-cked up.
Can't imagine having this as a start to the season of trolls from every news organization on the planet

I agree with you.

We should fire someone.

Let's start with all the known and suspected dopers that continue their practices, even when it draws negative attention to the sport. Those losers are killing us.

I agree with you. Cycling is run by idiots.

We should also fire all the idiots.

Especially all the idiots that think doping is still a great idea. And any idiot that writes a fanciful report about tests on doping samples without discussing the results of the tests. We should fire any idiot that would hire such an idiot along with any idiot appointed by an idiot to replace them.

We should fire all the idiots that think doping will just go away if we pretend it isn't there.

We tried that right after Festina, and you-know-who doped himself to the gills and embarrassed us again. Idiot.

We should fire them and sue them for treble damages. Maybe someone can do some whistle-blowing and get some federal agencies involved and rid us of these idiots.

Recently it seems any athlete just tested once is trying for the "most tested" honour. It's getting a bit boring, isn't it?

In the end I feel bad for Klodi - if anything they should give him one or two therapeutic refills with all the blood they've taken out, it's simply not fair.

They treat us as a criminal.

Should he be surprised?

One of the owners of the team is being investigated by the FDA, U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, both the civil and criminal divisions of the Department of Justice, The IRS, The French, Belgium, and Italian Police. There is an open criminal investigation in France for the transfusion kits. They had a rider test positive and another rider found with a stash of PED's. The director has been accused by multiple former riders of running an organized doping program.

Alain should be glad they are even allowed to ride.

That is how we level the playing field.

But, the truly desperate might try and cheat the system and try and collect all the samples to re-infuse themselves. Some end up in the hospital, while others grow a twin.

We should fire those idiots, too.

Vraimant! Ca c'est vraiment, entre toutes les choses!

Absolutely! Why **** about the testing if you're FOR the testing. You would think that someone within the parties involved would finally catch-on and tell everyone to shut their mouths.

Since they're under the umbrella of the "most tested athlete, ever", you'd think that they'd expect that (profound testing). Perhaps not so much...

If you're clean, you should welcome increased testing. Otherwise...

No you shouldn't.

Show me any clean riders crying out "Test me, test me"
"Thank you - may I have another"

Major pain in the ****.
Clean riders being OVERTESTED truly sad.
Do not blame Kloden and Jani at all if they complain.
Levi too.

Clean riders should complain more about the testing than the dopers.

Oh, so maybe that is why Klodi is complaining....
To make people believe he is clean....sly.

No... Clean riders welcome the inconveniece of testing because it holds out the promise of what they're doing - racing clean.

I can assure you that I wasn't the only clean rider ever going to testing with a light heart and sense of hope. You should see the tension at the AD caravan!

More desperation than the closing call of a gambling table.

How about if clean riders simply complained about the dopers?

The dopers are already complaining about the testing.

Drug Control. My 4th Klodi's 7th. They treat us as a criminals. They say, we're afld, we can do whatever we want! 8:40 AM Mar 12th via Echofon

I think some people didn't understand me. I'm 100% for controls, just in a human way. No arrogance, treating us like sh.t, etc

Jani commented on his two tweets for Sportal:“Many times I have enough, because most people only complain, but they do nothing to change it. At 7.20 am someone knocked on the door of my room and said that I have a doping control. When I came to the required place, there was no doctor there. They said, they do not need a doctor, because it’s a doping control not a doctor’s appointment. I replied that this is not a correct procedure because a doctor has to be present, but they only arrogantly replied, that they are the AFLD, and they can do whatever they want.”
