Rumour has Kloden clashed with French rider Offredo over the tests. According to insiders Kloden was still applying the omertà to the French riders. Thankfully this time around some of the riders turned on Andreas.

Beyond belief the UCI allows a loser like Kloden in the peloton.

Andreas is from the bad old days, leave him alone. He hasn't caught onto the "everyone is cleaner now" trend.

Be nice if what thehog said was true. That link doesn't really confirm it.

What is a chaudiere, a teapot?

hot? as in doping?

Google trans gave me 'boiler'

Yeh, i think the intention is hot/doped

good bit at the end, having ridden with contador, vinoukourov and armstrong, Andreas Klöden is a miracle in the fight against doping. Mentioned in several cases (and even denounced by his former teammate Patrick Sinkewitz in 2007), he always managed to get through the cracks.

nice to see that the French think Klodie is a doper.

Typical French Conspiracy theory by the French Journalists. Typical of bitter, angry, bitter, jealous, individuals. They do not remember their fantastique rider Poulidor, still kicking bum later into life. As a matter of fact Raymond looks quite well and healthy now. Why oh why do they hate Kloeden, could it be because Anquentil and Merckx showed their beloved pou-pou, #2 showe pou-pou what time it was?

Whut's up with the French are they upset that their number one tour ride nic Roche might just get finger pointet by Kimouge?? Or Nic Rouche might lose placement to Horner, Leipheimer or the dreaded German, Kloeden, the grande old men. We have had similar jealosy inour area with the studly Mr. Clint Eastwood in Carmel. Well at least the journalists do not slam Jerry Lewis.

My ability to translate written French is far from perfect, but I don't see anything like this 'rumour' in the sudouest article. The article discusses an exchange of words between Kloden and Offredo. Kloden is alleged to have uttered a slur about French riders; Offredo is alleged to have replied, "Shut your mouth, doper." And that's all I got about the exchange from that article.

Where does it say that this exchange was "over the tests"? Where are the comments from "the insiders"? Where does it mention that other riders turned on Kloden? I won't say these things don't exist, just that I don't see any sign of it here. The Kloden/Offredo exchange was referenced on more one cycling site today, including CN, but I didn't see any source other than the sudouest article.

Pedaling Squares - I think your post would be informative for newbies here -- for that I thank you. For anyone who has been here for a while, any time you see the words "theHog" and "rumor" in a post, odds are that the rumor is a result of some random word generator.

Perhaps they hate Kloeden because he was an integral part of Deutche Telekom/T mobile,i.e Dopers paradise? Second only in the Dopers league to ONCE (Star Doper Mr J Bruyneel) until the arrival of USPS/Disco who took "juicing" to a whole new level.Remind me who is their D.S?

OK I gotta stop you right there, the hog's faux insider info bits are finely crafted works of fancy and are far removed from simple random words.

You have it pretty much right. What isn't clear is why Kloden uttered the slur (****ty Frenchman) in the first place. Something must have happened.

Many French riders are openly critical of doping, and don't hesitate to lash out at individuals that are known dopers like Kloden (or any Radioshack riders for that matter, among others).

Of course there are those that will say that the lazy French riders should just train harder and shut up themselves. The problem with doping is that we may never know if the French are just lazy complainers or if they are right about dopers stealing their sport. Maybe a bit of both, but as long as the Klodens are around we can only speculate.

Looks like Offredo doesn't only launch attacks on the Poggio!
Good for him. Nice that someone finally shows up to prove that the peloton does actually know who is up to what.
So, yes, in terms of the Omerta side of things, I'd say the Hog has simply given a bit of embellishment, to what is essentially the truth.

Clearly, the French (and most here) would be happy to see the Freiburg Phantom disappear into of his cracks.;)

is not it a boiler, and a boiler in French, colloquial for a charger, aka doper.

Correct. Here in Belgium, the heating appliance company Junkers advertises during the RTBF coverage of races. Its ads all feature this guy in a yellow Junkers jersey making bald cycling analogies such as this one, in a post-finish-line 'interview':

"Je suis aussi clean ... que ma chaudière"
"I'm as clean ... as my boiler".

You can imagine them figuring it out during some coke-fuelled ad exec meeting:
Belgique --> Cyclisme --> Chaudières --> Voilà!

Also, CN confirms those remarks in yesterday's Offredo story.

No. "Chaudiere" is used for riders who have lost control over their doping, using everything in huge quantities. The last big french chaudiere was Virenque. Offredo is an idiot.

I agree, the article seems to pretty much confirm what Hog said.

IIRC in Rough Ride, the Chaudieres was the term used for a group of races in Northern France that didn't have doping controls. Hence, the hot ones.

Obviously the meaning has moved along a little bit.

How could any true cycling fan not love Deutche Telekom/T mobile?
A great team, sorry to see the sponsor lost. I do not know if Johann has ever been found positive? They have done so much for the sport.
As far as Andreas getting into it with another rider, in the heat of competition these things happen, soon they will be friends again.
Sport, as in life, we never see perfection. I sincerely doubt that there are any bad sports ethics among the 'Shack' riders. Their profile is very high, no?

I'll borrow that and apply it to why I found Offredo's outburst refreshing. Things have moved on a bit. Perhaps just in the language spoken. I hope we hear more of that stuff.

Meanwhile, slowly but surely, some of the parasites are on their way out. Saiz facing jail time, Pino retired on his blood (bag) money, even Gianetti's been cut down to size - will he be able to hold onto Geox after 2011?

Vive the pain faces and fragmented races? ;)
