Fred Portoleau´s analysis. watts average the same Froome/Bardet
Bardet climbed bettex slower than the main favorites so he can't have a higher number than them the chart is wrong.

yes, but he did the climb alone, no drafting, that explains the higher watts needed

Good to see but have the French guys had enough and decided to get on the program?

Back to the opening post. Hmmm, yeah, quite possible. ;)

Highest watts 2016 Tdf : Bardet 444 W on Le Bettex

I saw this graph today in Vayer's article in Le Monde. Since 2010, only Wiggo, Froome, Quintana, Nibal had been above the 410W-suspicious mark, and this year there were nine suspicious riders - the ones in yellow on the graph. Vayer made it very clear that he believes Bardet doped.

Yep, AG2R has a shady history. Yet I was sheering for Bardet, his move with Cherel was masterful. I saw Pinot out, Aru looking like Mollema, Mollema looking like Merckx, Froome looking like Zatopek, Quintana looking like nothing, only Valverde looked like Valverde :) . Weird...is something new going on?

Ag2r is kinda good since 2013 already. Actually it was the brown army, not Europcar, who opened up the French renaissance with Gadret's 2011 Tour of Italy!

The days of Casino are long gone, though. Not that I believe they're clean. But they were mediocre many years. No wonder they stepped up the game once Ag2r La Mondiale became a bigger enterprise and increased it's sponsorship!

Not necessarily. Environmental factors also need to be taken into consideration. that day it was cold and rainy. On the mountains, the cooling effect due to the wind is low and is more dependent on the ambient conditons. So lower temperatures can lead to higher wattage. If one compares, majority of the riders have higher power at Bettex as well and taking into account that they weren't pushing bcos of the next day, leads to the conclusion that they could have put out more. They simply didn't try hard enough. therefore Bardet's should be within the realm of possibility.
Besides the only reason that Aru & Mollema are in the green bcos of a single low watt result on the Joux-Plane. Statistically it is an outlier and should not be considered. Without it everybody is in the yellow
What it shows however that in the mountains everybody was more or less equal. The difference was made in the TTs. So the hyped "mountainous" TDF was actually a dud.

i have 30 years of climbing times and the ascents under cold or rain are definitely slower than those in normal conditions.

bardet improved a lot, still not as cool as the real cobra though.

Only because that isn't possible :D

Love it. Same thing as with Colombians and the British Islanders. Great in the 80's, really reduced presence in for a decade, back up top last five years.

Whatever is really going on, the playing field seems to have been leveled. It's not just the Spain-Italy based riders dominating everything.

Lappartient giving the French the Cookson treatment.
I don't think so, I hope not, but credit to you for being right more often than you are wrong.

As the #1 Pinot fanboy, I would be devastated if my homie was exposed. The time on the Lagos was a bit too good to my liking...I hope that we get another, updated data release like we did a few years back. No one has done it.

I won't be a Sky Bot and argue wind protection, that time on LDC was insane.

Looking at history, not much of a surprise, but Thibaut failed to confirm. As a kid and neo-pro, wow look at the Settimana in '11. Quintana, Aru, way behind on a race that is so big that Aru came back the next year to win it.

I can't imagine the animal lover, authentic guy being a cheat. But we had a cancer survivor, a Godzilla survivor, Valverde, so at this point being a skeptic probably is the best stance.

What I like is that Tibopino never became both a top notch climber and an ITT specialist, like others who get the other. Don't miss a beat.

And you don't lose that Giro podium if you're loaded. Stage 19 no BB.

I believe in TP but fear that his best will never be good enough.

Yep. Look at Basso...

I can see Pinot as being somewhat believable given his hype when he was young. Julien however has taken the new Valverde moniker to mean that he also has to glow as much as Alejandro did too.

Gaudu I can also somewhat believe given the hype.
