They also could have opted not to speak. Keep in mind that the Novitsky papers were NEVER given to USADa and these are voluntary admissions.

It's easy to hold the moral high grounds when you are not involved.

Those interviews and affadavits were made in the presence of somebody from Novitsky's team who was watching to see how much their USADA testimony varied from their grand jury testimony. Personally, I am glad that this step was taken, but it does take a lot of the "voluntary" out of it. Sure, they could still have kept quiet to the grand jury - 5th amendment and all, I suppose. But just sayin.

On the other hand - I do not at this moment hold their past against these guys. It IS in the past, and they DO seem to be trying to reform and all that.

Lance Armstrong is a legend, says Team Sky's Alex Dowsett

Last updated at 10:45
British cyclist Alex Dowsett believes Lance Armstrong remains "a legend of the sport" despite the doping accusations against the american.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency banned Armstrong for life and stripped him of his seven Tour de France titles.

Team Sky rider Dowsett said "I don't think it matters. He is still a legend of the sport. A guy who had cancer came back and won the Tour de France"

"I think it's not really important and I really don't think it matters"

There was no misunderstanding. Watch the video interview that was on the Six o'clock news of his original comments.

I don't believe anything the BBC are involved in.

Video of the Wiggins interview on Sky.

BTW I agree with Hitch here, he did'nt speak out here in the same passion and venom like he did in the past with Vino, Di Luca, and Rasmussen.

Different situations. I saw dissapointment, and an understanding that it is his duty to talk about it while he would most likely want do say sod the ******* and get drunk.

In his position, he can't handle stuff that way any more.

Pevenage on Belgian tv now:

"if I see they were still using EPO after 2001, I can understand why they were so ahead of us. We could be tested by the German USADA everywhere"

"if you want to tell what you think, you are portrayed as frustrated"

"in 2006-2007 you still know what is going on in the peleton, and then it is frustrating that you have to sit in front of your tv and others are still in the peleton"

Freiburg showed T-Mobile riders used EPO.

I'm sure this is the first reference to the mighty Zen Arcade I've seen on this forum - he could have just taken the title 'The Biggest Lie' from the Elliott Smith album as it features on Zen Arcade as well...
Let me applaud a mention of Zen Arcade as well.
There are many other fitting song titles, a little story:

Newest Industry
Beyond the Threshold
The Biggest Lie
What's Going On?
Turn On The News
Something I learned Today
Monday Will Never Be The Same
Whatever

Eh? It's an actual video clip of him being interviewed at the Tour of Beijung by a BBC reporter. Watch it on iplayer. Ten past six on the six o'clock news.

I know. It was irony.

The BBC have a canny ability of only mentioning the word cycling when doping can be mentioned in the same sentence.

They are all over the sport today. Never Ever Ever mention it otherwise. Tw@s

Hammering a guy who was 10 when Lance won his first Tour... But letting the bosses get away with claiming shock, disbelief. Weird old media.

Given that Brailsford went on to talk about how disappointed he was in Barry - and Yates is up and shouting it wasn't him and "I KNOW NOTHING! NOTHING!", I am strongly inclined to a more negative view of Sky mgmt. His head is up between his nether cheeks.

I think Yates has had a habit of doing all he can to stay ignorant. He probably suspected, but made sure to not let quriosity get in the way of remaining ignorant.

If there is doping at sky, I'm pretty sure he is ignorant about it.

It makes no sense at all. I suspect the fanboys and media are hardly getting over it. Armstrong and the media can't bring themselves to say sorry somehow. They have too much pride.

Masochism world describes the world of a cycling fan.

But your opinion carries a lot more weight as winner of the Tour than when you are in the grupetto. Remember back in 2007 he had no probably lashing out at Bruyneel and his hiring of Basso. This now from him is far more reserved.

That's my point. He has responsibilities now. Going on a hissyfit is not something he can do now. He has to stand up and talk about things calmly like an adult. The clinic would love a hissifyt rant about lance the ****ing doper. But I'm not sure that would go down too well in the wider world.

It's no good moaning about the BBC. Cycling got itself in this mess and fully deserves the bad press.

I'd agree with this. You can't compare an unexpected question at a post-stage press conference with a prepared and relaxed interview.

He knows he has a higher profile so I'm sure he attempts to present a more polished image when he has time to prepare for it.

I do think that he is conflicted over the whole situation. The one interesting comment he made was at the end of the interview when they were talking about who should the tour victories go to and was lance still respected because he was the best even though everyone doped.

His response touched on the fact that it wasn't about being the best athlete, but rather having the best doctor, before he suggested it would be better not to dwell on that subject. It lends an air of credibility, though maybe its just more diversionary chatter.

It is seriously rather amusing how some posters on here are not capable of ignoring bias and will always attack some riders no matter what they say.

You could put a list of 10 different responses riders could come up with a release to the media and all of them would be unsatisfactory in certain members eyes..
