The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that the city of Apeldoorn (the Netherlands) will host the 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships presented by Tissot.

Following a very successful 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships presented by Tissot in Hong Kong, track cycling's flagship event returns to Europe in 2018. The 2018 edition will take place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands on February 28th to March 4th. Built in 2008, the Apeldoorn velodrome has already hosted the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 2011, the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in 2015, and the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup in 2016-2017. On this occasion, a new 250-metre cycling track was unveiled, within a 5,000-seater arena.

A 6 week season???? It sounds like a joke. then a 2 month break and the championships.
And with 2 day events, the schedule will be at a minimum (like kilo, 500, etc)
No cups in the far east either.

UCI 2017-18 Track World Cup Schedule

Pruszków (Poland), November 4-5
Manchester (Great Britain), November 10-12
Milton (Canada), December 2-3
Santiago (Chile), December 9-10.
Apeldoorn Feb 28-March 4

The pursuit is Dead! Long live the pursuit!

Lots of great track racing taking place all around the world,
but one result that caught my eye was Domenic Weinstein's
pursuit win at the German Nationals last week with rides of
4:14.080 and 4:13.453.

Weinstein won a World Junior Points Race title back in 2011,
but is best known for his pursuit results from the 2015 - 2016
season when he was second to Kung in the Euro's, then won
the Cali World Cup over Tennant, and finished with the silver
behind Ganna at the Worlds in London.

Re:

World Cup season updated:

Pruszkow: Nov 3-5
Manchester: Nov 10-12
Milton: Dec 1-3
Santiago: Dec 9-10
Minsk: Jan 19-21

Each of the World Cups will have all of the events to be held
at the 2020 Olympics (i.e. there will be men's and women's
madisons at each carnival) and the option to add other
UCI World Championship events. Manchester is including
men's and women's scratch races and kilo/500tt's it seems.

And a belated thanks to Mr. Brian Cookson OBE and the UCI
for their successful battle to get both the men's and women's
madison included in the 2020 Olympic program. :)

The Milton, Canada velodrome, built for the 2015 Pan-American
Games, is also likely in the running to host a global championship
in the not too distant future...whether it is the Masters, Para, Juniors
or Elite Worlds still remains to be seen.
