Between Evenepoel and Seixas specifically I think it's pretty likely Seixas gets a gap on Redoute and then gets caught by Evenepoel later and beaten in the sprint.
Only chance for Seixas to beat Remco is stick to Pogacar then get dropped later when Remco is a bit too far.Between Evenepoel and Seixas specifically I think it's pretty likely Seixas gets a gap on Redoute and then gets caught by Evenepoel later and beaten in the sprint.
I'd think so, but maybe we underestimate how up and down the finale is and how little terrain that actually heavily favors Evenepoel.Only chance for Seixas to beat Remco is stick to Pogacar then get dropped later when Remco is a bit too far.
If he'd dropped and work with Remco it's unlikely he beats the aerobullet

I also think sticking to Pogacar isn't likely at all.
No way he only gets top 10 or 20 and he's been prepared to go the distance. Some riders are good till 200 km and then they fade. Paul is not this type of rider I don't think. Not just in one day, but distance can also be over a really hard stage race and he did not fade in Itzulia. I think it's a non issue really. The anticipation is often the most beautiful part of the race.
Like Mike Tyson said: everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.
Seixas has been impressive quite a few times this year (dropping Jorgenson, holding on long to Pog in Strade and riding a very composed chase afterwards, Huy,...) but the unknown is the distance combined with the competition. He's only 19 but I can't imagine he / his trainer haven't specifically prepared / trained for heavy intensity after 5-6 hours of riding. We'll see on Sunday and logic would say that Seixas ending up on the lowest step on the podium is already a big achievement, but who knows he either surpasses that expectation or he 'only' gets a top 10 or top 20 which would be impressive for every other 19-year old.
Easy tbh. The difference in w/kg is abysmal.Answer: Seixas
Yeah, if ever somebody had an excuse to sit on, Seixas between Redoute and RAF....Cycling is becoming all bout Science , Physiology and numbers . Not sure that even banning power meters during races will work. We may have to return to the BB era to make things interesting again.
I think relaying with Pogacar was fine. He's young enough that he has to find his limits still, you can't do that if you don't go to absolute exhaustion and prioritise resultYeah, if ever somebody had an excuse to sit on, Seixas between Redoute and RAF....
whatever happened to tactics? At least Jonas is a big boy who's not worried about getting shamed for sitting on in social media
Yeah, in this case it was fine imo. But when he's a bit older and more experienced, I hope he starts playing it more tactically.I think relaying with Pogacar was fine. If the strength relation between them remains like this, sure. But if he's as strong or even stronger then he should relayYeah, in this case it was fine imo. But when he's a bit older and more experienced, I hope he starts playing it more tactically.
