De Lie and Van der Poel are probably the two best riders in the world for this finish. I figured Wellens would maybe lose 6-8 seconds in the sprint, yet it was 12. Wild stuff.

MvdP did the business, so chapeau, but chased by De Lie to the line who looks back to a lot better shape. Again a crazy speed all day long.

Which would be a bit impractical, as then it'd be impossible for either to get a gap to the other...

Should either have let Del Grosso come back when the gap was 10 seconds so that Alpecin would have had two GC cards or attacked on Denderoordberg to try and give himself a gap on GC. Nothing to do with being boring or not.

I’m gonna ride on the course on Sunday and watch the race on the Wijnpers. De Lie could gain some time tomorrow in the sprints.

Fantastic stage! The Kapelmuur never disappoints, especially with riders of this class. The stage win for MvdP was almost unavoidable; he looked more fluent on the climbs and he has the kick for that uphill sprint. However this was also the best performance by De Lie that I've seen, and he still has the leader's jersey. Wellens isn't as explosive as the other two, but he can still try something in the next two stages. Enjoyable final; it wasn't boring for a second.
