Agree with BroDeal, Ricco was made into a scapegoat, everyone keeps saying he's so dumb but the USPS co-conspirators were brainiacs? No they were probably dumber as they doped to help out one rider to win not themselves (ever), that to me is the dumbest reason to dope. I'd go further to say they went full handicap! The USPS clan went on to say they were bullied and pushed, and in real life who/what are the people we know who are bullied to do things called or known as? Definitely not brainiacs.

Ricco still at least has his Giro wins and 2nd Place intact, so not so dumb as the ones who got their wins wiped clean. He lost his Tour win, but not the win any Italian would covet in the long run.

Lets compare apples to apples on this one.

Ricco is labeled Dumb for using a bad blood bag, didn't Tyler also use a bad blood bag and then also someone elses? Yes, this brainiac is now doing the press junkets with a book isn't he, some are even buying his book (not me). The words sucker and duped are the words for those buying Tyler's book and buying on to that train wreck. Then the jokester aka jester personality makes anyone more likeable right? The all funny guy Floyd Landis is everyone's favorite now, what he duped most people TWICE! But now he's some's favorite ex-doper because he's funny, wow great reason to like a rider who duped the masses twice. I luckily did not fall into that trap either time, but was close. They all need to go in the doper category, there is no semi-good doper or a bad doper, they're all bad, even the ones know wearing the suit and ties. Dopers at heart, too strong to leave the limelight no matter how dim it maybe, wanting your attention for more.

Ain't that the truth.

If only Ricco were Spanish. If he were British he'd have got a knighthood and plenty of awards and everyone would be gushing over his 'refreshing quirky tell it how it is personality'.

Brash young upstart with loads of potential!!

The scapegoating of Ricco is complete. There is something really messed up when Ricco gets twelve years while Leipheimer, Vande Velde and such are banned for six months, the Spanish doep with impunity, the head of the UCI facilitates the Brits making a mockery of cycling, and JV ends up running the sport.

Don't hold back now....

No. Ricco is dumb because he didn't know how to keep his dumb mouth shut. If you give interviews laughing at supposedly clean riders and say things like "the tifosi don't care about doping" then you can't expect to keep your place in the sport. Ricco enjoyed playing the bad boy, which is a really dumb thing to do in a sport so concerned about its image. As the song says, "bad boys get spanked."

Ricco got exactly as he deserved.
He was caught for CERA, and banned. He then came back knowing another violation would mean a very long sanction. He chose to dope again.

CVV and the others have been caught once (Levi's 96 pos is um, lost) they co-operated, and got a reduction. Ricco had the same opportunity to roll on others and didn't. And if CvV etc (& Valverde, Contador) get caught again they to will face very long sanctions.

CVV, Levi, GH etc rolled on someone out of the sport. Big deal! Yeah great that is was Armstrong so he finally got done for what everyone already knew except those minions who swallow the cancer charity crap.

Did Levi spill any beans on OPQS, you can bet the heck he didn't. Did others tell what they knew on others apart from USPS, I bet they didn't.

Glad as I am that Armstrong got done, they got off very lightly, 6 month ban over the winter for a career (or half) of doping, nothing.

Are they paying back the money they won from doping? I doubt that too!

They didn't just roll on LA - they helped exposé a team wide program.
There are still many redacted names that have yet to be heard and given their sanctions.

And as much as you or I knew La doped, many would not accept that, nor indeed could USADA bring a case without the assistance of all those.

Same option to roll was open to Ricco. And Ricco was caught twice.

As for Levi - you are assuming that he did or knows something at OPQS who he was with for less than a year?!
If he did do something then he will have to face a second sanction with a very long ban - just like Ricco.

ElChingon: So Kimmage is just as bad as Armstrong?

Of course, why do you think he knows about doping? I can understand someone who never doped not grasping things but the ex-dopers know all to well what is going on and what has gone on all along, once its not benefiting them, they talk the great talk on how it was bad and all that jazz. It is still going on, not one solution has come out of this whole thing other than the exchange of money and lawyers getting involved. Or have they instigated the great change that has been missed by the masses?

Dumb for calling out riders out in the public eye which we all saw as clear as can be? He didn't hide any of it, except his doping just like all the dopers. Calling out riders for being dumb for not doping when they were all doping well it an be viewed as dumb but he did have a point. Ricco's bad boy is bad you say but Floyd's bad boy is good? They are one and the same and again both dopers. Didn't Floyd also offer dope to Zabrinski his bud because he thought his competitors had an unfair advantage to him, its all in the RD pdf's go read. Floyd the pusher, a great guy? Oh, he came clean once he didn't have a pot to urinate in, what a moralistic reason to rat the system out now. Same for the rest of the USPS ex-dopers, once they had a federal subpena, they said "oh guess we will talk now", yea like they had a choice till then they all kept their traps shut.

So Armstrong & Kimmage are the same?

The former, cheated, lied, bullied & coerced for nigh on 15 years plus, whereas the latter woke up to the reality of doping and rather than carrying on living a lie, got out and wrote about his experiences in an attempt to expose it. How are the two comparable?

ricco was a victim of his own hubris. he should have known, in the anglophone sphere, to be schtum about his form, excellence, talent, doping.

need to be a politician when navigating the doping touchstone.

but at its most elementary level. Ricco did nothing different. And it riles me to see the way he is excoriated by good english speaking dopers like cavendish and wiggins.

Thanks mod, the guy has an obvious anti-British agenda, but nvm I can't call him out for who he/she (possibly both from name) is

This thread is enlightening in the hypocracy of various posters who have it in for Wiggins, who there is no evidence of him doping, nada put the clinic speculation, who seem to want to stand up for someone who was caught on EPO, then who performs a blood transfusion and if reports are correct was doping as an amateur and laughing in the face of others at the time

Now a real victim of dopers in cycling would be someone like Obree who had his pro cycling career ruined because he refused to take drugs and nearly hung himself,

The real hypocrites are those cliniicians who stand up for Ricco while condeming Wiggins on no evidence, nada, and theres a few on here.

Dear Del, Wiggo = Ricco. Do you not get it?

12 year ban please for Wiggo.

Again, what year is this?? It's like we're in an Armstrong thread from years and years ago. I don't know where you get anyone "having it in for Wiggins." Many suspect doping, given all the ridiculous actions and totally contradictory interviews. That is not personal.

This business of turning overwhelming suspicions into some kind of personal vendetta needs to stop.

Sigh... At this point, it has colourful feathers like a duck, quacks like a duck, has feet like a duck, a bill like a duck, eyes like a duck and it STILL isn't a duck?

You are not reading how forum participants view Ricco correctly either. Take a step back and reconsider.

Funny, the Wigans fanboys are acting just like the Armstrong fanboys used to act. How'd that work out for them by the way?

How good would Ricco be on Sky? First ever GT triple, plus throw in other stage races and countless one day wins. Maybe Dave Brailsford can pull some strings and get Ricco free to ride(for Sky).
