Ricco

With a 12 year ban there isn't much left for him to do. He could fade back into obscurity or he could slowly kill himself by being a human lab rat and push his doping cocktail to the absolute limit with complete disregard of not only anti-doping laws, but also health, safety and common sense.

I don't care either way. It's his life to live. He's only hurting himself.

I think its about time some rich chap somewhere got all these banned riders together ,juice them up to their eyeballs under Leinder's supervision and lets have a 7 day mountain stage race with a ITT in the middle.

Ricco, Kohl, Armstrong , all of them ....lets go.

Honestly - i'd watch it

Riccò looks like Bardet

Isn't Stefano Garzelli got this nickname "Cobra" before Ricco did it on himself?

Btw. " It has since been suggested by fellow pro-rider Jérôme Pineau that Riccò openly doped even as a junior rider"

That is so brutal.
Riccò has been suspended for doping as a Junior, as a U23 and twice as a pro…

EDIT: he’s been suspended twice as an U23

Which tells you all you need to know about how "serious" cycling's world bodies are about stamping out doping.

Ricco is a gift that keeps on giving.

What an idiot ... but I guess he doesn't known any other way so he got no choice.
He could have taken a leaf out of Bernhard Kohl's book, his bike shop is said to be quite good and he seems to have moved on.
Bernie still wrecks people at Granfondo events, a month ago he won the SuperGiro Dolomiti that starts and finishes in Lienz (232km, 5234m of altitude gain) over 13 min ahead of the 2nd. :D

I wouldn't be surprised if he's doing it clean, just for laughs either. He's probably enjoying it a lot more than racing back in the day too.

I'd never eat an ice cream from his parlour. Not with his hygiene record.
According to the Interview it happened because of bacteria that were inside the plastic bag that he used for the blood bag, he says that he had a separate freezer for blood bags and other doping related stuff ("I'm not that stupid"). He also stated that he never had any concerns for his health when he was still riding, he was only afraid of getting caught, that tells you a lot about him.

Cobra is a legend, one of my favorite riders of all time. i always hoped he would make a comeback, i have no doubt he will return only to test positive after a few months. But man it will be worth it

Fully agree. The sport needs more Ricco’s, less Froomes.
Amen. If it's gonna be a circus, let's at least have some clowns! A circus filled with accountants is... meh.

This^^^

1 million times this!

I wish that we could have seen what happened if Ricco was popped after the 2008 TDF... Sastre’s attack on AdH would have looked like a sprinter trying to make the time cut in comparison to what Ricco would have unleashed

Ricco is really one of those cases where someone (UCI) should just go "Okay! Enough is enough! You've had your second chance, you're out!"
Otoh, I'm really looking forward to seeing him try to find a team? I don't think there are that many teams who'd sign a 40-year-old repeat-offence doper...

I think they kinda thought they'd done that when they handed him a 12 year ban.

They obviously didn't account for his sheer stupidity and never envisaged that he'd start talking about a comeback at the age of 40
