I mostly agree, but you know that TLMRP will manage to crash or will have some health issues during those 3 weeks so there is no chance that he would podium even with your ideal scenario.

I am assuing the acronym TLMRP stands for Tiny... Little.... Man.... Richie.... Porte....

dont you think this is a bit disrespectful Jancouver?

for your information, his nickname is LRP. said in a stentorian bass, peremptory, authoritative.

I think Porte will win the Tour this year . He then will go on to win the Vuelta and strike gold at Rio in both events.
I also think that I will finally develop a invisible cardigan and my project to extract gold from spiders legs will also reap great rewards.

LRP " 3 weeks of inevitable disappointment"

I could see him winning a sprint against Froomey on Arcalis, doing a more than decent TT still being in the hunt, suddenly being the biggest contender, but cracking Chamrousse-2014 style

2014 TDF - defacto leader abd got ill, 2015 Giro crash ruined race

These are the only two he has raced as a team leader (except maybe you could say he became defacto leader in 2010),

Things went wrong, but we need to see a GT without injury or illness as leader, 2016 is time for Richie to step up to the plate

LRP is underestimated. Give him some __/ style MTF early in the Tour and he can seemingly crush everyone except Froome. Add the Col'eze ITT and make the Tour one week and he is a serious contender!

Mcewen wrote him off in his last interview. Reckons he is good for mebbe 7th at the Tour

McEwen is a good judge and gets it right pretty often.

The route is a good one for Quintana and Contador more than anyone else. As for Porte he has to go the distance before even worrying about the route. Not a good course for TJVG better for Porte but if Porte does not perform it matters little. It seems that the Tour organizers are moving away from the traditional prologue and two TT type races which would have suited Froome more. It seems the Tour is more about mixing it up now and let's the Giro and Vuelta load up on lots of MTFs and the more extreme stages. It's not such a bad thing to have the organizers doing things differently in each GT. BMC are overdue for a good Tour result. Fifth place in 2012 for TJVG.
And 5th in 2014.

Aah yes which was why some people thought he could podium in 2015. He seems to get sick quite a lot. I just think there are too many riders a level above him at the moment. He reminds me a little of VDB. Solid rider and good TT but has problems with crashes and illness and can't seem to finish off races. Some of it is just bad luck of course but everyone has his share of that.

Just FYI ...

Perhaps it is politically incorrect in your view, but these days, the world is going bananas with this political correctness and over-sensitivity from ones opinion. Where is the freedom of speech and acceptance of others people opinion?

So don't try to be politically correct and over-sensitive that somebody has an opinion that you don't agree with or may be disrespectful in your eyes.

And yes, TLMRP is "The Little Midget Richie Porte".

I even think we should all refer to him as "the midget".

After all, in sports, there are many athletes with nicknames that may offend those over-sensitive.

I actually agree with you about political correctness. I think it's a cancer but that is probably politically incorrect to say so but can you imagine the outcry from fans if such derisive terms were applied to Contador or Cancellara ? The Sky riders being less loved often get bashed or mocked and so does Gerrans although for different reasons. I just prefer to call him Porte and judge him on his performances but if others want to do otherwise then that is up to them. All the same I thought Evans' nickname of Cuddles was quite clever as he often looked and sounded like he needed a cuddle so it kinda reflected his personality. I was an Evans fan and was not offended by the name.

The Tasmanian, 30, is going through multiple life changes ahead of next July's Tour, having married Gemma Bartlett last weekend, four years after they met at Team Sky.

Why does LRP feel the need to constantly update us on his relationship status? His previous GF (maybe his first?) got mentioned every second article now this one at last count is up to three or four life changing experiences for LRP. Give us a break.

"In this game, you always have a few blow-ups here and there with riders on the road and he's one who I've never had an issue with," Porte said.

At first skim I thought he was referring to all the times he has blown up in a race. LRP has actually had arguments with other riders? That's funny. Maybe he was referring to that little kid at the TdF?

Bring on the TdF.

would fans welcome a Porte win over Froome at the Tour and after that stop being so annoyingly un-funny with Porte?

I'm already better disposed towards him. Not because I particularly hate Froome, but because I prefer fringe contenders with a chance of making an impact to be riding for the win rather than as super domestiques.

Firstly, there is no chance of LRP ever winning the TdF or Giro.

Secondly, I cannot stand Froome but LRP would be another level bad.

just a pop quiz survey

when you read LRP, do you phonetically repeat "ell... arghh... pee" or do you enunciate the individual words, "little richie porte".

i mostly defer to a default "ell... arghh... pee" acronym
