Not just shorter climbs we just remember those because he targets them like Willunga. Porte also looked comfortable in the Alpes in 2015 and 2016 TdF. I think it was 2015 double ascent of the Alpe where he had to sit up for Froome when he helped save Froome's Tour? Yes he is older now but he is looking much better than I expected. Not bad.I think Porte historically does well on these shorter effort climbs - Willunga, Malhao, short side of Leysin, Mauselaine, murito in the 2018 TdS.
He has looked good on Peyresourde, but he was also given some space there because of the time loss before.
So I think Alps would be a more difficult test.
He didn't exactly get much of a chance to overrace in the spring this year.
Back to Froome or Sky probably.
Kinda ironic that he finally manages to get it right when he's past his prime and only because the pandemic prevented him from repeating the same mistakes.This.
It could actually be this.
"Mein Fuhrer, Richie has decided to race Paris-Nice, Catalunya, Pais Vasco, Romandie, Swiss, and of course Wilunga...."
COVID validating my Contador overracing spring theory.Kinda ironic that he finally manages to get it right when he's past his prime and only because the pandemic prevented him from repeating the same mistakes.
What do you mean with "past his prime"? He's just entered his GT prime, just watchKinda ironic that he finally manages to get it right when he's past his prime and only because the pandemic prevented him from repeating the same mistakes.
Papi Horner agrees! What do you mean with "past his prime"? He's just entered his GT prime, just watch
Big stage for Porte if he wants to keep moving up GC. Also should answer more questions about Bernal's climbing form which doesn't look as good as the past two Tours so far.Survived some mechanical drama to hopefully get to the foot of the GC in one piece. Can Richie step a little closer to a Paris podium on stage 15?
For a small colombian, "good" is an understatement. He only lost 28 seconds to Rohan Dennis over 21k. Same time as Schachmann.Lopez had a good TT in Algarve so we'll see if he stays in the mix too. Looks like a Porte vs Uran battle though, yeah
So he's moving to Ineos and take a helper role next year to help whom exactly?
The move to Ineos is not yet official, but a very strong rumour. He's confirmed this is his last year as GC rider and his plan to go back to the helper role next year.Is that offical? (didn't saw that coming)
Nice to see him moving towards decent result, but it's very very long battle still to go.

Imagine Ineos next year TdF team with him, Adam Yates, Bernal and Thomas Good luck managing them especially if Porte podiums this year and Yates finishes top 5.
Sky train is done and dusted.
