Is he? I watched the jersey presentation of the Madonna di Campiglio stage and no one mentioned him coming in yet, that was at around 12- 14 mins later.... maybe headed off for one last sniff of the germ free interior of ze RV before catching the EasyJet home..

Click-bait headline. The detials:

Team Sky has confirmed to Cyclingnews that Richie Porte will continue the Giro d’Italia, despite indicating that he could quit to focus on the Tour de France. According to the team, Porte - who is now the second Sky rider in the overall classification after Leopold König - will take the start of stage 15 from Marostica to Madonna di Campiglio.

They only confirm he was starting today. I expect the abandon before the start tomorrow. 27+ minutes down today.

What do we know about Lil Richie.

Well what have seen is rider who was on fire coming into the Giro. He acts like an ass in 2013 Tour. And when he gets his BIG chance to face Contador. He got his @55 whipped!

Porte really hasn't ever put together a GC effort at a Grand Tour in his entire career other than the 2010 Giro where he was gifted 12 minutes in a big split.

this is three times now he's looked incredibly strong for a week or two only to drop straight out of contention without warning. this was almost exactly like the TdF last year, he looked like the only guy who could threaten Nibali and then blew up spectacularly on the Chamrousse stage and was in the grupetto every day after that.

when you look back it's actually astounding that Sky thought he could win this race and made a proven solid GC guy like Konig work for him for two weeks and it will probably end up costing them a podium spot.

honestly i thought he could, too, but only because i thought he was going to be juiced to the eyeballs.

Simply unpossible. The Sky crew has this GT thing boiled down to a cookie cutter application of science. Brailsfraud basically has an app for his phone with a big red button that says "Win GT now". It's a done deal when he pushes it. If LRP isn't winning this Giro, it can only be by design. It's pure hubris for any lowly fan to believe they sophisticated enough to understand the master plan for Sky. Only Sky's swimming coaches and DB are sufficiently knowledgeable to understand Sky's objectives, and how they will be achieved.

Climbing madone in training faster than anyone is no guraantee for GT-success...

It simply requires a lot more..

They sure talked him up for it...

-The madone record
-Best training numbers on the team
-Killer in the spring
-Kerrison talking him up by changed approach
-new girlfriend making him happier
-No drinking
-RV gains

And then one bad (unlucky or not) day and then he lost it all...

Alltough I don't think he lost it all because of that.. Multiple things had their say..

One and maybe the most important one..

Sky can't win a GT unless the sun moon and stars align in their favor......

They are still amateurs here...
