So by that logic László Bodrogi(Silver Medal '07) Stef Clement (Bronze Medal '07), Iván Gutiérrez (Silver Medal '05) all bettered Porte's result at Geelong. Yet aside from national chmapionship titles, something that Porte hasn't done, these guys did nothing. Yet Porte who was doing a rather good 'Mick Rogers' in 2011 is now producing results like the final stage of P-N and everyone is ok with it.

See Gloin22's post as well.
And I don't think anyone (or most on the forum at least) are ok with it.

Yeah that was my error. I meant some not everyone.

Felt nauseas when I saw him go Cancellara on them on the flat. Didn't even stand up, just rode away ala Cancellara PR 2010

I was nervous as well but he managed to win easily on the line so was happy

I only saw it once so will be interested to see it again but it did not look that unusual. To me it looked like he jumped the rest of the group. No one wanted to do the work to chase until he got a gap and by then it was too late. Happens in plenty of races. Are people really comparing that to Cancellara?

Sure you can ask questions about how come he was in the select group in the first place and has been in most of his races...

I missed the finale because I had a work call, but I just read the "Road Racing" thread and it looked pretty much like clinic talk, didn't take long to realise Porte had pulled a skyborg.

What is it going to take for you to start questioning sky? 1-2-3 in the tour with 10 minutes down to 4th?

If a spanish team got 1-2 in every stage race of the year would you believe them?

Reread what I wrote. Especially the last sentence.

I have to disagree. Porte got the initial gap fairly easily, probably because of the other guys not paying attention. But they did try to close that 2-3 bike lengths gap for a couple hundred metres and failed, after which he ran away with it.

They just could not close the gap, and then he was gone. Very impressive to say the least.

I agree with this. He was just too strong for the others to close in on him.

Ok, so Porte goes and then you can see the other riders start to chase and then bunch up because no one want to take responsibility. The gap grows out a little more and then then begin to chase. On the final straight you can tell they slowed down again as they prepare for the sprint because they start to bunch again.

Like I said... how he came to be in the select group in this and other races is something else.

He was ten seconds out, he softpedalled the last 200 metres Pedro, that is the thing you should look at...

You seem not to understand how drugs make you a better rider .You also dont seem to understand that when you come off drugs your performances tail off until you reach your natural performance .Im surprised at the gaps in your knowledge

You need to go back and watch the 2012 Vuelta. You're not up to speed on who is doping and more importantly...WHEN.

Free tip...wait for the last rest day and see how much Contador and Valverde improve. All three Spaniards were equal before. After they were not. Make no mistake, I think they all got blood bags.

Contrast with Froome. Too much for too long. Still doping, but his and Sky's inexperience with him doping long term hit them. One needs to have off periods. Down time. Froome had been running hot too long.

Note: I don't think Sky will make that mistake again. Either with Froome or Porte. They've learnt how both men respond and function very well by now.

So Saxo riders dont dope when Alberto isnt riding? what does that mean, Berto has to deliver the blood bags. that doesn't make sense at all, since Saxo desperately needed points.

And Bertie's points don't count at the moment anyway.

I still maintain Contador was still gaining benefit from his previous
drug use now this season he isnt .

The best riders dont need drugs to win and Sky have the best .
