Well you can't read an article these days without someone praising Miguel Porte's tremendous ability against the clock, so of course it wouldn't be a surprise if he puts 2 or 3 minutes into Contador.

I saw an interview with Brailsfraud where he said that it was all about the TT. If he gets the jersey, Contador will have a hard time getting it off him.

Maybe he will get a boost of something just before the TT. Oldskool dopers like Contador will have to wait for his blood bag until the mountains, I think.

Bloody hell, missed the stage because I thought it would be flat and uneventfull... Didn't realise that there was an illegal wheel change rule? Would it be a well known rule by the pros?

I find it hard to believe Richie was not in contact with his DS asking their location / team mate location and neutral spares location to work out what to do. Very continental level actions there. Understandable given the situation and the pressure, but man, who doesn't have contingencies if their team leader gets isolated and punctures?

I've got a theory. He faked the puncture because he could't have followed Aru, Landa and Contador in the real mountains. The guy has been struggling for the entire week and is beginning to look very tired.

No rules should be applied for this, really!

If you puncture you puncture. You lose time. Get over it.

But I will also say, that I think it's pretty idiotic to give him a punishment for getting a wheel from another team. C'mon, that's just showing great sportsmanship.

UCI wanks...

So if all the Spanish riders refuse to help any Australian riders if they're in a break; that's great sportsmanship too ?

The rules are the rules; if the teams don't like them, let them take it to the UCI, it's the same for everyone !

Porte was never gonna win, I second LEindersGains.

Porte would be have been third, maybe fourth, and I reckon his tt will be mediocre too, cos of the weightloss

Maybe we should ask Robert Millar what he thinks

Why did LRP take Clarkes wheel when he had a team mate there taking a picture. I mean, the wheels on the Scott bikes aren't as round as the wheels for Sky. Right?

Not just that, but SKY wheels, unlike other teams that fill their tires with nitrogen, which is so yesterday, SKY is using very thin and light air from the Himalayas.

Ritchie Porte is so used to the improved rolling resistance of those Himalayan air filled tires, that when he got the POS front wheel from his OGE buddy, he couldnt even follow his teammates. Luckily, he had to only put up with that crappy wheel for 5km so he was able to only gain marginal losses.
