No-one understood Dutch strategy yesterday. Nice to see them keep up the tradition.

Who from the current breakaway will first abandon and who will finish the race?
Being in the breakaway is a goal by itself for many riders.

They want a hard race they said. So maybe this is betterthen sending one in the break which gets 15 minutes with the peloton soft pedalling the first 3 hours. Instead they want ride a high pace from the start.

Not sure how they will keep that up, but so far my guess is that the pace is quite high.

Ofcourse im justguessing their tactic. They shouldnt carry race anyways.

Anticipation for this race is obviously not very high since there isn't even a specified men's race thread.

Yup, never been this unexcited before a WCRR since I started following the sport closely.

That said, when is the eta?
København was way worse. There wasn't even the possibility of 4km racing there, it was one derny away from being a road keirin. Zolder even more so because some teams had 12.

Anyway, Anna VDB went early because she simply couldn't win a sprint over 200m. At the Euros she lost out to Amialiusik and Niewiadoma, both climbers with little real sprinting prowess, in the same fashion. Credit to Armitstead for the ride even though it's pretty common knowledge at this point I don't like her. Although somebody pointed out earlier in the thread before the last lap, at least we know it will be everybody's fault but hers if the break stays away... so at least we're spread the blame cannon being fired now she's won, and she did the work to deserve it. Weird top 10 really, huge credit to Neff being there at the end as well as the rest who you'd probably expect as the elites when a selection is made on the final climb - Anna VDB, PFP, Guarnier, ELB, Katie Unknown.

It is rather fast.
The second lap was faster than the first, and the gap to the breakaway was smaller.

Any chance racing will finish before 6:45?

Programme is on until 9pm tonight on British Eurosport so I doubt it would be over before 8pm unless its a fast pace.

The UCI youtube stream sounds like a propaganda movie

I have no problems with them interviewing Cookson. Of course he's going to be favourable to his own organisation. I still think what he has to say is interesting. You just can't assume it be impartial. I've spent a week riding with Cookson, and he's a decent guy. With a hard job.

Why would Phinney *** around so much, rather than just change bikes. His bike is either OK or not, surely. Or would he be waiting for the pits?

The auto-filter on the **** word makes it look much worse than it actually was!

He got assisted by the Shimano neutral car, so he probably did the best thing rather than waiting.

A pretty boring but key period in the race over the next 100km. If the pace isn't kept high then a largish bunch finish is probable; a hard pace over the next 100km should take enough out of the legs of the sprinters to bring the likes of Gilbert/Valverde/Gallopin into play.

The Dutch sure are present and accounted for. Just how hard can they make it and how long they can last is the question! At least everyone can't just take a 100km holiday thanks to them.

It's amazing that I have to watch ES coverage of the WC RR, considering that I live in the US!

I know. The UCI feed is complete rubbish. Unwatchable.

I've been watching the Richmond site feed for 2 hours without issue!
