Let's see what happens by the next time checks. Mullen is very far behind, even compared to others who also started in rainy conditions. Maybe he's taking it easy on the first lap, or maybe he's simply just not that good.

Everything is relative. Cornering at speed on a TT bike is tricky. Kamna appears to be the only one of the final group - ie the favourites - who is performing at all. Could be the wet, could be more the wind but these guys wouldn't collectively be way off if weather was the same.

I don't follow junior or U23 races a lot so I don't know anything about the riders. Kirby just said that Kamna is rumored to be the new Kittel, but he just started last in an ITT so it would be obvious that he is rather a TT specialist than a sprinter (he also doesnt look like a sprinter at all). Was that just a typical Kirby or are his sprinting abilities really that great?
Kämna is a TT specialist and a very good climber, sprinting is his biggest weakness. It's his first year as a u23 rider but he already had decent results and totally dominated the 2014 junior ITT in Ponferrada.

Weathers ruined it for the last riders, shame the TT is going to be decided by luck to a degree.

Kittel was very good in time trials as a junior and u23, taking 2 junior wc titles

Kamna and Kittel are still nothing alike though as a type of rider.

Of course the weather isn't the same, but I mean that it's not what ruined Lammertink and Mullen's chances for gold. Kämna is clearly better as he surely didn't take those 20" in a few corners.

I wouldn't know anyway. Just trying to illustrate what Kirby's point may have been, whether it is valid or not.

I know nothing about this Kämna dude but he's only 19?

He was the best junior rider in general last year. And he had no problems at all switching to the U23 category this year. Big, big talent.

Maybe it just means the next big star to emerge from their youth system?

Or Kirby misquoted them, which seems too incredible to be true... ;)
