No one comes even close to Appelt.

Costa was rather close. 17 seconds behind in the end.

Great ride from Appelt, but I can't help but feel like Mcnulty's ride was rather dissapointing considering he beat Costa several times this year. Maybe he just doesn't have the engine for longer tt's yet.

Women's TT today with Kristin Armstrong starting second. I do not know how start positions are allocated but in theory this means that Armstrong could be sitting in the leaders seat for 2-1/2 hours. She is one of the favorites to win or to at least podium.

Appelt has won this already :D

Indeed. Beating McNulty by nearly a minute is just insane.

McNulty? There is a rider called McNulty?

That's awesome. I hope he will reach pro status. I will be his fan no matter what.

He is a really good rider btw, one of the best juniors in the world this year as a first year.

Dumoulin probably out of the championships. Has a serious problem with his ..well... ass.
source?

Source is the national coach.

Some guy from the national team said he will ride though.

Some guy?
The legend that is Thorwald Veneberg! The unlikeliest of the unlikely to win a two man sprint in the Scheldeprijs against Tomas Vaitkus :D

Dumoulin will start anyway, but i think he is in danger. Tony Martin starts 1'30 behind right?

If Dumoulin is shitty from his injury or the Vuelta or a combination of both, he could be passed by Der Tony..

On eurosport it's Kirby and Matt Stephens, not the best on the women's peloton. You might have Rochelle Gilmour and Ant McCrossan, they do the UCI stream i think. Know their onions but not the most regular (RG owns/runs Wiggle Honda).

Armstrong is going ridiculously fast. Surely she's not overcooking this?

I was tempted to switch to the stream but it's a lot bigger on tv! RG is fairly amazing, that much energy would be terrifying in real life.

The start times are wierd. Anyone know how they get decided? I'd rather see the favourites ride closer together, which most are but not all. Odd. Maybe cos Kristen hasn't raced so much or something.

Wouldn't actually be surprised with EVD now some way down, espec if Brennauer or Anna VDB has a bad day. We'll see how Solovey goes, surely she's your favourite for this, jens?

What is it with Germans and TTing? When Martin retires, Kämna and Appelt will dominate the field for years to come, it seems
The German structures are still very similar to those that produced riders like Zabel and Ullrich, they always seem to produce great sprinters a TT-specialists. The interesting thing is that riders like Herklotz and Kämna are pretty light (Herklotz is 1.90m/68kg, Kämna 1.81m/65kg) and also good climbers, they have lots of potential. Herklotz is also one hell of a descender.

First race since the nationals in May per PCS, and 145kms raced this year (and since 2012). Fair play.

Kirby and Stephens calling her Kirsten is getting annoying.

Sounds like today's Kirby bet is Alena Amialiusik, so she can expect to be labelled a disappointing performance if she doesn't podium, if his performances regarding the likes of Arredondo earlier in the season are anything to go by.
