Why this breakdown? Exciting race with a deserving champion.
I would literally rather have watched a six hour group ride won by Simon Gerrans.

I respect you most of the time, but what the hell? He acts like a tool off the bike, sure, but what was wrong with Sagan's ride today? He could have waited just like Matthews Gerrans Kristoff etc and would have definitely been one of the favourites, but instead he attacked, which is clearly more entertaining. He doesn't hide in the wheels and did it all without a team today. Like it or not, he deserved to win today

As I said, it's understandable that you feel bad with a Sagan win, but when you look at the guys who finished behind, you ought to thank him for it. It would be a disgraceful ending to have the wheelsuckers carousel winning the race. Sporting wise, Sagan totally deserved it. And at the end of the day, cycling wins.

Poor Libertine. He will have to live with Sagan as WC.
My interest in cycling has been waning for a long time now. If you notice, more and more of my posts are on course design and historical cycling and less and less is on as-it-happens current cycling. This is another nail in the coffin.

Yawn. Self-absorbed much?
Ironic, being called self-absorbed for hating on a narcissistic douchebag.
LS you are a smart man so please dont judge people from for media appeariances please,I told you that many times.I think its a reasonable idea...

Amen. Fantastic race with a deserving winner. :)

Sagan saying he won for the people in the world because there's some stuff going on in Europe. I hate that cringeworthy **** where athletes feel the need to play insightful commentators of world affairs.

He thoroughly hates Sagan, the person. Has really nothing do with with cycling or his merits.

Which is why it has no place in this forum, or anywhere cycling is discussed.

Why do people always ask LS to explain why they dislike Sagan over and over again, and THEN complain when LS replies? LS is 100% entitled to their opinion, which contrary to what people say is perfectly justified. Leave it be if you don't want to hear about it.

I don't like Sagan's personality one bit, but at least he's a rider of sufficient status to be world champ. So kinda like Hushovd. I can work with this.

I don't give a flying one how he rode and whether he deserved to win today. For the on-bike activities, he did deserve to win today.

But I would rather have had an undeserving victor of a horrible race raced horribly by horrible people than a good race won well by Peter Sagan. If he got away in a highly improbable group of himself, Gerrans, Leipheimer, Froome and Mick freaking Rogers, I'd still want him to come last. There is literally no active cyclist you can name who I wouldn't want to see beat Sagan.

Sounds like it's a good job I didn't watch the speech. I turned off when he sat up knowing he'd got it. The sport is dying to me in front of my eyes.

Congratulations Peter Sagan, a deserved winner and will wear the rainbow jersey with distinction. Just too strong at the decisive moment. Can't fault his tactics and strength in this race.

On the penultimate cobbled climb the big teams e.g. Italy had already used up too many bickies to counter Sagan who was still relatively unseen and fresh before that point. Hats off. I feel the course was not selective enough to allow riders like Nibali or Valverde to have any chance.

Sweet *** win, and so deserved! The poster's meltdowns are icing, now we can top it off with Oleg eating crow. Well, assuming he didn't already drown in his vodka bottle...

.. who easily could have won 3 stages, but devoted himself to Captain Contador who was worth close to zero? So disrespectfull.

He's getting paid good money for that. If he didn't care so much about money, he could have happily had a team for himself

Sagan: Big for sure. The world is peloton, yeah. Nice bike is good for the sport. Yeah, they said I could do long races, so I'm very happy.
