I dont get the consistent obnoxious part, whats all that about?
See his behaviour at the podium during this year's Tour for example.

I dont even remember what he did, but I assume he was up to his usual antics? Anyways, I got no problem with that. Peter is a cool dude and I think the podium girl-thingy gets blown way out of proportion, Peter knows it probably wasnt the smartest thing and wont do it again.

I say cut the guy some slack, he is still young. The most mercurial talents in sports seems to be the most disliked. Sad!

I've grabbed plenty of posterior in my life and never regretted it. I have a feeling Sagan doesn't regret it either; he just said he did to appease the whiners.

This is his 6th pro year though, he knows what's what by now.

Anyway, I take two issues with your last sentence. Firstly, I don't know anybody here who's said they dislike him for his mercurial talent. Secondly, the amount of triumphalism and winding-up that's been going on in this thread and in the California thread and the Bardet Combativité thread would seem to indicate that actually those who dislike Sagan are very much in the minority, because for the most part the masses are either willing to overlook his character because of his bike racing (which I can understand but disagree with) or actually like his character (which I cannot reconcile with).

Yes, he is probably well aware that there are a lot of overly sensitive people like yourself who get offended by anything. That doesn't mean he has to change his behavior to be exactly what you want it to be.

Valverde 5th. The real best cyclist is he who has the lowest average finishing position in the Worlds, or indeed any important race he contests, over many years

Great ride by Sagan and yes, Valverde continues to amaze. I hope he gets a wccrr win before he retires.

I'm not sure Italy even had a plan. I was expecting Nibali to try something but they just never did anything.

But I seem to remember his butt tapping incident was a few years ago? Probably last year. Well, he was 24, surely he should know what's wrong and whats not, but seriously, don't criminalize him more than necessary for that one. Peter is one 'happy' boy and likes to play with the crowd, not that it excuses it, but I don't think it is as bad. I respect your opinion, but I must admit I was very offended in the way you articulated your opinion in this thread

I was referring to other sports, Ronaldo and Lebron James are probably the most notable here. Its just super easy to hate those individuals, I dont, but in both cases, they ARE a lot more - what did you call Sagan, self-absorbed - than Sagan. That probably wasnt very fitting considering Sagan as you point out is very liked (for good reasons) throughout the peloton and by the fans.

Anyyyways, your rant against Sagan just somewhat disgusted me since you literally said *** everyone who supported him. I know it was in the heat of the moment and all, but.. meh. I found that as self-absorbed as some of the things you have said about Sagan.

Please, Libertine is entitled to their opinion, no need to go personal. I am yet to see them doing so with any of us, their beef is with Sagan.

It's not sexual assault unless she decides it is.

That is nonsensical. If she concents beforehand it isn't, that would be true. What you are saying is that if someone goes out on the street, sees some random person and kills him, it isn't muder because he was on the way jump from the cliff aourd the corner to commint suicide.
But as you cannot be this stupid, it is more reasonable to assume, that you just think that women "actually want it". Which just isn't true. A maybe against this you will come up with the "argument" that some achtually do want it. Well again your logic would be flawed and the argument nonsensical. You'd assume that this would prove your innitial point "they do actually want it", so if you find one, you've proven it. Well it just doesn't work that way with proof. But well: I could still be the one who is wrong about it, that the majority of women don't want to be groped, or raped, or be kitchen slaves. Why don't you go to the phone, and call cour wife, girlfriend, mom, sister or grandma and ask them? If you are so sure, there wouldn't be anything wrong with it? I don't for one minute believe you'd do it.

No, your post is nonsensical. You generalize a specific comment and then continue by arguing with yourself.

Don't ASSume so much.

I fear this is a disagreement we're never going to reconcile. It's difficult for me to reconcile that you can back a guy in spite of what constitutes sexual assault, juvenile vulgar T-shirts, self-absorbed attention-seeking drama queen antics and spitting at people, but yet can use the words "disgusted" and "offended" because my outburst at his victory included "*** everyone who supports this guy"; this would imply that my post was more offensive than any of his behaviour, which obviously I'm not going to be in the position to agree with!

As for him being liked, much as jens_attacks put, the circle of riders, ex-riders, analysts and fans using the royal "we" to put forward a narrative of "the champion everybody wanted" only grinds my gears further.

Well you made a general statement, I didn't have to generalize it. That doesn't make it nonsensical, but I guess you are unwillig or unable to adress the logical side of the issue anyway.

On the ASSuming part: thank you for proving my assumption about you, being actually true.

You have a point and I probably shouldnt have phrased it like that, but apart from the sexual assault case or whatever you would like to call it, I got absolutely no problem with his behavior which I think is all it comes down to. And even if I didn't, Im pretty sure I would have been able to look past it and just enjoy his riding, because that is truly special (in this day and age).

I hope your fine with that and I didn't mean to condemn you for feeling differently, I just think I got caught up when you ranted pretty hard which I didnt think was fair to Peter.

Has anyone talked to the podium girl about the incident? What did she say? Did she press charges?

He pinched a woman's buttock on the podium in plain view. Are you asking did she turn the other cheek and ask for another?! The act was wrong whether she pressed charges or not (she did not). Based on his actions afterward, he has seemed to have learned from his mistake and matured. I think many of us (males) have done things that in hindsight we regret and I would hope that Sagan has seen the error of his ways.

You don't know ***** about me. The fact remains she didn't press charges and he wasn't charged with sexual assault. As for the rest of your argument, you were talking to yourself. It has nothing to do with me because I don't approve of going around grabbing women's asses.
