The UCI Road World Cup was a season-long road bicycle racing competition comprising ten one-day events. The competition was inaugurated in 1989, and was replaced at the end of the 2004 season with the inauguration of the UCI ProTour and UCI Continental Circuits.

We really miss this competition, so in the spanish Forum "Parlamento Ciclista" and GP Canal de Castilla we are planning an unofficial Word Cup.

We had a poll during october, this is the list of 14 races selected for the spanish fans to be included in the ROAD WORLD CUP GPCC:

Now that would make me very happy. Gent-Wevelgem should be added as well though.

Talking about the World Cup, this spanish guy made a yearly virtual WC ranking:
2011
2010
2009
2008

Interesting to see that Gilbert would have won not only this year (no surprise there), but also in 2009 and 2010. The only rider to win the "real" World Cup three times (also in succession) was Bettini...

Maybe for 2013, every single year we are going to vote to modificated it, if is necesary

I guess most Spaniards don't know that G-W will be 35km longer next years with more hills in it instead of the disgrace of this year.

In tune with the WC of old I doubt that most of the riders on those lists entered at least 6 or even 5 (with Zürich out) races out of 9.
True.

I decided to skip the 'minimum' rule considering the new ProTour scenario. Thinking in pre-PT era, most riders could have ridden in certain races with the sole purpose of 'signing in', keeping their WC hopes alive.

I absolutely agree, we are going to skip the the 'minimum' rule as well.

Great list really. I could very well live with that!

The UCI will never make it happen though.
