Rob Hatch

The next move might be to melt this into the Eurosport thread.

But would that be overlooked by a new Hatch fan and maybe yet another Hatch thread would...ummmm.....be hatched?

Shouldn't the title be The Rob Hatch Thread, so that way we know it is a thread?
Follow a trend maybe? “Rob Hatch is the new….[something something something]”

He makes such an effort to showcase his linguistic skills, but adds “as well” to the end of every second sentence. I exaggerate, but only a little - count them! Sorry if I’ve put it in your head, but drives me nuts! 😱

I agree that he adds to the negativity around crashed by being in "disbelief" when they happen, and having so emotional responses to them. He is still the best commentator imo.
He was way better 10 or so years ago. He's just obsessed with making everything over dramatic. Used to really rate him as a commontator but he's now gotten cringy IMO.

I agree with you. But I mainly listen(ed) to him when the racing is really on. I think he's good in midts of action while not so good when little is happening. Who do you rate above him now?
I personally like Matt Stephens as the main commontator, when he's leading he's really good, can talk for hours and is deeply knowledgeable about the sport.
I'll admit, the barrel is pretty low right now when it comes to English speaking commontators. Bring back the late 2000's early 2010's when we had David Harmon, he was brilliant.

As far as I'm aware, Harmon is gone for good and for good reason. Personally I think I still like Declan Quigley most from the EN-lineup; unfortunately they don't use him very often.

Whether you enjoy it, or find it hard to identify whom he is talking about, there is no doubting that Hatch tries to get a degree of authenticity into his pronunciation.

Which is why his Stan "de Wool-uff" seems very odd to me. Sounds more like the jokey slant on the name of the animal that I would have used when reading nursery tales to my nephews.

Is that a true rendition, Flemish speakers?

Also found it an odd choice of his to deliver the Hungarian riders in the Tour of Hungary in Family name- forename order. Yes, that is the Hungarian convention, but he is not speaking to a Hungarian speaking audience, and he doesn't do it for Attila Valter (nor for Valter Attila) in other events.
