Romain was the first rider I made athread about. This thread, obviously. I fell in love with him as a rider back then, and I love him still. A true racer, and a principled one throughout. An intelligent and thoughtful man too.

Enjoy your retirement Romain... thank you for the memories, and my avatar of course. I look forward to seeing you on the TNT coverage of the Tour.

For a long time I thought that a bigger win than his four Tour stages was going to come eventually, but sadly it never did. Good thing he's French, because it means he gets to go down in history as the best home rider at the Tour this century instead.
