Hadn't he? I'm curious how you know it. He spent lot of energy working for Alberto today what he missed in the final. Yet he finished just 16 seconds behind him.

Because if he had better legs he wouldn't dropped before. And at least he should finish with Valverde.

It might be the plan for roche and paulinho to join breakaway. Too bad they missed it. If they were there... 7 minutes ahead, might be useful when roman and contador tried to get away on descent. Roman looked good in the descent, he probably spent tons of energy in there. Saxo should just knock it off, and wait for the last climb.

at least rogers calculated his effort well. He finished 8th. Imagine that. Contador knew he got no legs, he should have just coasting behind sky on the descent instead of burning his energy. Maybe he won't be drop so early and kreuziger might be able to hold of quintana. Now saxo has no card to play. with contador not very convincing, purito and quintana might leapfrog krueziger and alberto for good.

Really impressed with Roman, hope he can keep it up last few days. Same goes for Rogers, but you have to wonder what is wrong with AC and i am also disappointed with Paulinho and Roche.

Believe Roman would have been dead set for 2nd spot if he had been team leader and had help.

The much maligned Roman Kreuziger is having a truly great Tour. Would be a much deserved podium result if he can manage to achieve it. Final two mountain stages should be a great battle between the two Saxo boys, Quintana and Rodriguez.

It would be a shame to see Kreuziger fall away now after riding such a great race. Even Mick Rogers has done really well without much of a mention.

So yesterday Saxo's DS Hoffman said he sees Roman as natural leader. I wonder what that means. Hope he's not going for GC and sticks to his previous goal - stage hunting. Would be nice to win one or two stages But if goal of the team are 2, 3 or more in top ten, than he may be forced to do the GC.

why not stages and GC together, there are so many uphill MTF finishes in this edition, I believe if you are gunning for GC you have to win a couple of stages in this vuelta. And Saxo needs points badly right now.

They claim they have 4 captains... Roman, Roche, Majka and CAS, wont work in my opinion and think both Roman and Majka, would be too worn out after a long season to go for GC, they should just go for stages.

Yes, guess they had what 3-5 wins this year, and with huge spending that is simply not enough.

Vuelta torment is over for Kreuziger. I think he didn't want to do it but team did. And it was just too much. At least DS shouldn't say the BS about natural leadership.
It reminds me of Astana and Tour 2011, where they made him to ride Tour even if it wasn't planned just because the old bam Vino wanted to have him there.

Whatsoever, very good season for him to this point, one of the best.
