The official site used to have a bit more details on each climb (total length, average gradient, max gradient, altitude gain and paved distance, if I'm not mistaken). I can't find any such details this year (except paved distance). I'd appreciate any link with such details - possibly to an older edition of RVV (in which case the hellingen will be in a different oder, obviously). :)

He was the only Flanders contender to finish the race, so I don't know about that.

Apart from 2011 (Nuyens) & 2010 (Cancellara), the previous 15 Flanders winners rode De Panne.

Yeah, the reason why most people skip the Panne is to avoid crashes. I can understand that, but Chava didn't crash, so he's fine.

OPQS have won every single race in Belgium this year except in the Omloop and Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.

theyoungest seemed to be suggesting that if you finished De Panne you couldn't win Flanders.

La machine, so freaking strong. OPQS will have 2 of the 5 or maybe even 2 of the 3 strongest guys at the starting line.

I'm curious what their tactics will be. I'd say keep Chavanel in the waiting room as long as possible so he can assist Boonen on the flat when Cancellara has gone berserk on the Kwaremont and send Terpstra up the road instead. He can easily do a Vansummeren in a small group too.

They will probably try to pull a 'Devolder' with Sylvain. I hope this trick won't work for the third time though :p

Well yeah, that's the most logical, but the most obvious option too. Not really that big of a surprise factor in it for the other teams.

nah they can do a devolder with terpstra or van keirsbulck or keisse that strong they are.chavanel probably is stronger even than boonen he doesn't need to attack with 80 km to go this time.
but cancellara will face the hell sunday no doubt

I'm talking about this year. He was the only contender for Flanders still in the race. If on the basis of this he's considered equal to Cancellara and Boonen, that doesn't make sense.

And no El Pisti, I don't consider Devolder a contender.

well i never saw chavanel as strong as today.he sprinted for the last 500 meters out of the saddle like a monster.not as strong as boonen but i think he is pretty close.
anyway it will be a spectacular ronde as always

Today Boonen reconned the new parcour of the Ronde. He dropped all his team-mates on the Paterberg and hap a gap of at least 30 seconds at the top :p

Agree with Chavanel's strength. But Van Keirsbulck and Keisse? It would be amazing already if they survive the first time Kwaremont.

good to see boonen waste his energy again. the true opponent of cancellara never wins in a race, even if it means cancellara not winning. so wether cancellara wins or not sunday. boonen won't win. to me the biggest outside is chavanel. I think he's monstrously strong

Well d0h, the only two who could realistically stay close were in De Panne...

Yeah, Boonen never wins a race

Quick, tell Simon Gerrans he didn't actually win Milan-San Remo!

If Boonen can hold Cancellara's wheel he'll take the win, I doubt he'll be able to though, Cancellara is just so monstrously strong. Boonen may be a class above the others, Cancellara is 2 classes above them.
