He did a great race but I can't take out of head how the hell did he loose so much time to Pogi in Kwaremont. Pogi made him look like an amateur there.
He was fully tuckered out and obviously Pogacar made a monster effort there the way he even distanced Van der Poel.
Look how Pogacar and Van der Poel cooked Van Art. Today there obviously weren't the big 3.
Then you see Pedersen anticipating the race development brilliantly. Going-long range with a strong group. Nearly using the rivalry between Alpecin, Jumbo & UAE to his advantage. In the end he still had the power and the wiseness to go alone in a bid for final victory. Look how empty Küng was in contrary.
It took Pogacar & Van der Poel superb performances to reel Pedersen back in. The Dane certainly put huge pressure on the big 3. WvA actually cracked.
In the end Pedersen missed strength and fortune, yes. But for me he proved to be a full class act today. He isn't just a guy that became world champion with a lucky punch and can win a sprint from already reduced concurrence. He's a major force.
No need to be ashamed that he couldn't defuse all 3 big guns with his encouraged ride!
