He's the best Canadian to ever throw a leg over a bike (yes, you hear me, Steve Bauer). He's a true all-rounder, excellent in both climbing and TT'ing, and a great guy off the bike. He's been a Grand Tour contender since 7th place in Tour 2010 (6th after Contador was stripped of his title), but only now that people start taking him seriously. Do you think he'll be the first Canadian to ever win a Grand Tour?

AGR and Tourmalet 2010 are the obvious points of reference, along with Vuelta 2009. But also the Arenberg stage 2010 was a very good effort by him. Smart, too.

Classy guy and obviously I like him a lot, but the Discovery and Phonak connections do cloud it a bit. Just because. But a working man's gotta eat, so yeah.

Hope he hangs on!

He's no Svein Tuft (who's an absolutely epic dude, IMHO), but pretty good yeah. Never thought he'd have much of a chance in a Giro (maybe Vuelta if anything), but look at him now!!! Hope he finishes this race ahead of Italians

He finished 2nd in 2010 AGR and 7th in the TdF that year (6th after Contador's suspension).

Last year he lost lots of time in the first week of the TdF, but he managed to finish in the top 10 on the Galibier and Alpe d'Huez even though he was working for Danielson.

Lovin' it! He rode the big boys into the ground today. Scarponi couldn't keep up with him and he brought the gap down to 17 seconds. One more mountain stage and then the Time Trial to Victory. He will destroy J Rod on Sunday, if the gap remains as is. Mountain Bikers of the world Rejoice!!! Ryder is here!!! (BTW, wasn't he once on Discovery???:D oop's another one that slipped slipped away from the mastermind)

I hope he doesn't crack tomorrow and he'll have this Giro in the bag then! I don't really know how good his time trial is, but it can't be worse than Purito's and Basso's time trial.

?

Hope he doesn't do an Evans 2002 when he lost 15 minutes and the Giro...Basso and Scarponi are certainly going to attack very hard at the foot of the Stelvio, they don't have much left to lose, especially Basso as Scarponi still needs to prove he can win the Giro on the road, it could be deadly...
