RIP - Swordsman

Always a thoughtful poster... poignant reminder that life is short and those last tweets are truly heartbreaking.

rest in peace.

he had a tizzy about something a few months back. can't remember now, but i tried to make him a friend to let him know he wasn't alone... he never responded (probably thought i was a loon), but i will keep that offer out there :(

Meh Swordsman, sad to see this. You were a great poster, didn't post that often but your posts were great and with passion.

May you rest in peace :).

RaceRadio said it best, to me, in describing him as thoughtful and classy. He was very passionate about the sport and that was clear, and he had a very high ratio of reasoned argument-to-senseless fanboyish name calling (in other words, he engaged in very little of the latter in what I read by him). He was one of the few forum members whose posts I always read seriously, because they were pretty much always worth paying attention to.

I imagine that all of the communities and people he interacted with probably feel his loss with grief and sadness as we do.

I read back to some his old twitter feeds when he said he wouldn't be watching pro cycling again, sounds kind of ominous now :(

This pretty much sums it up for me.
Just want to add that without ever meeting the guy I'm 100% it was a very nice person just based on his behaviour on this forum. Such a shame :(

I remember he said he would stop posting on this forum and that he stopped watching pro cycling. At that time I thought it was sad that cycling and this forum lost him. He couldn't really stop though fortunately. Too bad he's forced to stop watching cycling now.

Rest in peace John.

i'd like to think he just has a helicopter view now.

That's a nice thought. Anyway, I just read the news and I'm shocked. I always thought TheSwordsman was one of the more thoughtful and interesting posters here.

RIP. tweets present a tragic tale.

Thanks Dim for starting this thread.

Its better that his comrades at cnf know rather than never find out.

RIP theswordsman. -halamala-

High praise.

Show he made a mark.

Thanks for pointing that out. You know he would be thrilled to see it.

Death at any age is sad but fifty-four is way too young to die. Now his family is missing someone they can't replace.

Agree totally with this sentiment, very sad to hear.

RIP and condolences to his family.

He was on a (very) short list of Clinic posters who I would read and look out for. Sad news.
