you don't get world tour points riding for a non-pro tour team. So if it was just for points he should have done Tour of Japan instead of the Giro
I don't mean WT points. Rider value points.

And yes, he could have done sh.t small races instead, but to make himself of any interest to teams he had to move out of the WorldTour, because domestiques don't get any points at all. So it still stands: the UCI points system awards stupidity.

Good, clean riders beating less good dope cheats. This is something to be pleased about....especially when the cheats are found out.

Given the way Di Luca and Chubby Cheeks rode over the last few months, is there any other rider whose performances rang bells in a similar vein? I know there's one that springs to my mind. I hope I'm wrong.

Who you referring too?

Yes but dope makes usually makes a bigger % difference than natural talent does at that level.
Not for every rider. How can you know that? Especially with EPO. For a guy with naturally high hematocrit it would be less of an advantage. If it has less muscle mass that has an effect on the advantage too. The relation is not linear at all.

I actually laughed aloud when a friend texted me the news. Less surprising than Di Luca getting caught, IMO.

Probably not with the amount of dope they use to stay clear of testing positive or tripping the BP. And even this small amount seems to have been too much.

Hmmm don't know about that one, it was both very obvious.

My guess is another very successful Italian.

Actually, no....I hope Nibs is clean, I really do.
I was referring to Betancur. Again, hope I'm wrong but his performances have been eye-catching in a similar way.

GUYS GUYS!

The sport is cleaner now! Really. No REALLY it is. I SWEAR. GUYS??

Exactly! All this is, is an isolated incident by a pro conti team. Everyone knows all the big teams are clean. There's nothing to see at the top end. :D

I won't defend any clyclist at this moment but are you talking about the 23 yr old cyclist who won the Bio Giro and was silver medal in the world championship at very young age? the same one that at very young age keep acumulating results in the Pro-Tour? the same one that has been very good from day one?

How so?

He has had no leap in performance to the level of Santambrogio.

Acqua Sapone didn't get an invite to a GT last year which didn't help him.

2nd to Atapuma in the final MTF and 4th overall at Trentino. He would have performed in the Giro if they got they invite.

What does this mean for riders that were consistently around his level in watts/kg? Nibali, Uran, Evans, Majka, and I think Pozzovivo were all very close to him during the second and third weeks on power scales.

you must wait the doping commission results

100% correct. Can't blame fellow competitors for not speaking up. If you don't have proof better to keep your mouth shut and hope the testers do their job - which they did on this occasion.

Except those smart enough to take advantage of marginal gains.

Warming down. Taking jackets. Stuff like that.

Santambroggio must have forgotten to wash his hands before each stage. Silly boy.

That's the 3rd most obvious rider in the peloton busted. Now catch Froome and Horner and I might start to believe cycling is on the right track.

I'm bet Cav is happy he went for those intermediates on the final stage. When all the suspensions play out, he may need them. (or not at all if Nibbles gets busted)

Why would Nibali get busted?

I'm not defending any of these guys but comon dope can't turn a donkey into a racehorse.
