When do they start retesting old samples? Or will this be business as usual where a few sacrificial lambs on the fringe are slaughtered to warn everyone else to change their methods?

Per the veloclinic post, the message is "Bring it down before the TdF guys." That's my crackpot theory. A corollary crackpot theory is Pat's looking tough on doping for now.

I'm hanging my hat on the 'Pat looking tough on doping' peg. He may even start the motion of something meaningful re: Armstrong, but not let it grow any legs prior to the election and then post election it will all get kyboshed again.

But I think either scenario could be realistic.

The response of the team manager cracks me up. The team is like the Italian version of Rock Racing. It is filled with sketchy characters with a history. The team even has Cipo involved.

How could anyone be surprised about DiLuca getting caught. Everyone gets on Ricco's case for being stupid, but the true idiot is DiLuca. Ricco was caught taking CERA when it was undetectable. DiLuca was caught a year later using it. It is an EPO that sticks in your system for a long time so it was obvious that if you use it and get tested then you are done for.

Santambrogio's fat cheeks just screamed, "Not normal."

News gets released on Tuesdays here though. Perfect timing. Now spill the beans.

Nibali is the secret love child of Lance Armstrong and Tammy Thomas, isn't he?

I knew it.

:D No, there's nothing like that in there. It's a retrospective that includes numbers for a lot of big names from the 80s through to last year. Only one rider posts a proper clean sheet. That's already more than I should be saying. ;) It's a damned good read.

On Friday, I will post some screenshots. I actually posted them here a few days ago before reading the "PS" that the authors had asked me to not to talk about it until it was released, so I had to delete them. :D

thinking about MS winning stage 14 got me ****ed about Visconti soloing to win 2 stages (since he was banned for 3 months for ties to Ferrari)

Interesting! Can't wait to read it.

To be fair, most people think Ricco is stupid, not because of his drug of choice, but because he transfused himself with month-old blood that he'd found lying around in the back of a cupboard.

B-Bag mistakes could happen to anybody.

Di Luca did ok for a guy who had like 2 race days before the Giro.

their TTT was quite eye-opening. Shame they decided to tone it down after ;)

They were strong in the first week and then faded. Doped before the Giro and not during it?

Should've been that way.

It was most obvious with Taborre.

Oh man Taborre, with an epic attack on the way to Pescara! Is he really the most obvious doper?

No I mean he was very agressive in the first week and suddenly he was so weak that he abandoned few days later. That would fix into the hypothese.

I don't think this is the Mørkeberg stuff, It seems to be more sensitivity or something:
http://inrng.tumblr.com/post/52126111103/minutes-from-wadas-executive-committee-meeting

Then there is this document:
http://wada-ama.org/Documents/World..._Recombinant_Erythropoietins_Analogues_EN.pdf

Haven't read it, but it seems to be some procedures relating to epo testing established in 2009. It's stamped "expired March 01, 2013".

Hence I think they have a new system in place that is working against microdosing. And that came into effect with the expiry of this system. I think it's unrelated to the Mørkeberg stuff.

Given Ricco's general attitude, I am pretty sure he also used unhealthy doses freshly stored d-bags.

Santa injected himself in the cheeks, judging from the pictures...or did he just come back from an appointment with the dentist for removal of wisdom teeth. If so, they dug so deep his brain leaked out.

This was interesting:

Good to see Santambroggio positive. Us dirty ol managers have known his performances were high risk for a while. Good to see system work.

@Vaughters I know, but there must be a way you guys can tip the doping hunters? You can never come clean if you keep talking afterwards.

I wonder who else is on his inside-the-peloton's "naughty" list.

That is indeed interesting. The peloton being able to influence who is target tested is clearly not a good thing, but then who knows if that "tip" had any influnce.

Who knows if there was a tip? Vaughters is good at implying things that are not true, like implying he was working with USADA behind the scenes. When everything came out he had been playing the same "maybe I did, maybe I didn't" crap to USADA that he was playing to the rest of us.

Exactly why I do not rely on jv1973.

More to the point who is "we". Do only some general managers get the opportunity to says who should be target tested?

Assume JV won't be suggesting anyone from his team or Sky.

I confess. It was me. I reported Santambrogio to the UCI tip hotline that al-McQuaida set up.

Evidently the whole system works and is surprisingly efficient. Next up Froome.

A tip-off or a "you should suspend this guy" ?

I mean, everyone knew he was doping, you didn't need top secret insider info for that. If the target testing was competent they would be keeping a short leash on anyone linked to investigations, especially those performing better than ever.

Surprised you could get through, I would think the hotline is in virtual meltdown with the entire peloton calling constantly.
