What?!

Your "logic" is totally flawed, just because one sees the Tour as the biggest thing during the season doesn't mean that one can't appriciate other races. Where does this nonsense come from?!

Have you even read his post?

'darkness and waiting'

His post implied there is the Tour and nothing else. It's not what he thinks, but its what he wrote.

Whole this 'July fan' thing on this forum is flawed. Everyone simply bashes on July fans because that is 'cool' and politically correct. While in truth it is a matter of opinion.

Here in Belgium we have plenty of 'April fans' (with the RVV, PR, LBL, etc.) who barely care about the Tour.
April fans don't get nearly as much crap as July fans.

Yeah, I know what he wrote but since I have seen what he writes on the forum I don't think he meant all the other races are boring, just that, in his opinion, le Tour is the "peak" of the cycling season and he is absolutely thrilled about it. I might be wrong thought, Bavarianrider?

Well you are not one of those July only fans, I had thought that you'd also enjoy other races. Well my fault, I guess I am the only one on this forum that doesn't feel like this is THE time of the year

Yes, well as my post noted, I know that too.

And as the tone of that silly girl's post noted, so did she.

But the point is that he wrote something which contradicted it - she commented on that and then people jumped down her throat on it.

Great for all the Australians to watch that. Just saw Andy Schleck say that the day into gap where he lost 1 min plus to Cadel as his hardest day mentally in the tour.:)

I see your point, I am just a bit tired of all this "cycling all year" talk.

Anyway, lets not argue that more, let's just enjoy the first day of the 2012 Tour! :)

The good thing about the tour: It is a major goal for every participating rider*. For all other races, there are other events around which is the main goal of some participants. But for the tour - everyone is (or should be) in near peak form, aiming for good results/performances in this very race.

*some reservation for olympics this year.

Thanks Waterloo. Your reputation on the forum is a lot better than mine, maybe they will get the point when you explain it.

I think it was in 2003 or 2004 that they stopped with riding in yellow the first day:) Haven't you watched the tour since then??
`
I haven't paid much attention to who was (or wasn't) wearing yellow on the first stage of the subsequent tours.

And it seems like I'm not the only one who was unsure on that point.
