I haven't paid much attention to who was (or wasn't) wearing yellow on the first stage of the subsequent tours.

And it seems like I'm not the only one who was unsure on that point.

I remember Sastre being mad in 2009 because he couldn't wear yellow (?) But then after that Alberto didn't wear yellow in 2010 and 2011 so it's all good.

The important question today is will the timing updates be any good on letour.com

They redesigned the site 3 days ago. Not much more flashy but I hope the core functionality still works. Pretty solid bet it now won't run on iphones properly #firstworldproblems

In 2003 Armstrong rode the prologue in yellow. In 2004 he didn't. Neither did he in 2005.
In 2006 last year's winner wasn't there (Armstrong). In 2007 Oscar Pereiro didn't wear yellow.

Can you see a pattern?

You know, the usual "The Giro is much better than the Tour" (yeah, the Giro sure was amazing this year...), classics are waaaaay better tha le Tour, every real cycling fan knows that, etc...

But I agree with you, the Tour has finally arrived, and IT IS AWESOME! :)

Did she write that or are you making up sentences putting them in her mouth then mocking her for them ?

Arvesen said that he believe that EBH could be in yellow in the beginning of TdF - the final on stage 1 and 3 suit EBH more than Cav so the team will let EBH go for victory on these stages. But if EBH want to be in yellow he needs to beat Sagan today and not be many seconds behind Canc - if any seconds at all. Because as I see it EBH won't take any seconds on Sagan on stage 1 and 3, I even doubt that he will take any seconds on Canc on stage 1 and 3 -the finishes aren't that tough so Canc should be up there. Remember there are no bonus seconds in TdF

Will EBH beat Sagan today and not lose more than say 3 seconds on Canc?
I doubt it. He hasn't been that impressive in prologues for some time now. And seeing him at the team presentation where he looked very lean I believe his power might not be what it could be. Being an important domestique for Wiggings in the beginning of the climbs I believe he has focused more on being in climbing shape than TT shape.

Hence, we won't see EBH in yellow, but maybe in white - still belive he can challenge Sagan today even if my bet is on Sagan.

I see your point, I am just a bit tired of all this "cycling all year" talk.

Anyway, lets not argue that more, let's just enjoy the first day of the 2012 Tour! :)

Where is all this "cycling all year talk". I asked this in the other thread and surprise surprise got no response. People are raging against these imaginary giro posters hell bent on ruiningt the tour by bringing up other races when in reality the only giro mentions of the last month have come in the giro 2013 parcors thread and you would probably deny us even that.

Here we go: Veelers is on the course! TdF has started. :)

Noticed that we have an intermediate time check after 3.5 km.

Webdesigners justifying their needless existance.

Current fad seems to be removing content in preference to massive pictures everywhere - BBC did the same, very annoying.

Actually the live-ticker page is a huge improvement. And I'm not talking about the design. It's a huge technical improvement too.
