Fair enough. But only once it is evident they cannot put Contador away. Frankly, he is in an awkward position in spite of a successful run on the cobbles.hrotha said:Yes, but my point is that their interests will diverge sooner rather than later.

The Schleck bros. and Jens! are pals with Lance. I see them working together against the Spaniards andASTANA/ Alberto GRR! As far as Andy and Lance, may the best man win! Cadel has to be tired after the Giro but he can win stages and maybe make top 5. Plus he needs all the team help he can get even it is with rival teams.Publicus said:Saxo Bank has more reason to work with Astana than Radio Shack or BMC. Andy needs minutes in the mountains to protect against his inevitable losses in the TT.
Did you see Astana work with Columbia to try and put smiling george in yellow last year. For some reason Garmin chased Big George and Lance was ****ed. Columbia and Astana were allied last year.hrotha said:That sort of thing never happens. If a team can't beat Contador on their own, they'll go for 2nd, and thus be forced to attack and chase the other teams in that unholy alliance of yours.
It's all talk for the press, it never materalizes on the road.

The Schleck bros are also pals with Contador. None of it matters. It's the Tour. Saxo will not work with the Retirement Shack unless somehow there's a break where, say, Andy and Lance can work together to get time on AC. But since Contador is stronger than either of them, I don't foresee that happening.
And yeah, Cadel has really looked exhausted in this Tour. That's why he's so far down in the overall right now.
flicker said:Yes Cadel looks great. We will see how he performs during week 3. He looked great in the beginning of the Giro this year sans team! Look what happened Liquigas team smoked him. Do you think cycling or life is fair? If you do PM me and fill me in on your nirvana.

You're right, I'm terribly sorry to have used the prologue to project anything about anyones podium chances, clearly thatis a cardinal sin that no proper poster would ever commit.python said:you have a way of stretching simple things into wild projections and conclusions.
Eh..python said:the prologue with its flatness and long straight runs is the perfect course for watts over watts per kilo.
if 'watts per kilo' do very well in the race, they are making a huge statement about the podium in paris.
No wishfull thinking is projecting an outcome you want simply because you want it. It's not projecting an outcome, or in this case considering an outcome (I consider LA's podium chances to be just shy of 40%) to which you're indifferent.python said:that's wishful thinking.
My heart is warmed by your wishes for my survival, there is joy and happiness in my life once more. Farewell! Goodbye! Good buy!python said:i care little if you post but i do hope you survive. good buy.
exactly. pretty much a known fact. and when you analyze the prologue results you'll see it was won by specialists. a climber like contador doing as well as he did should be feared by his competitors.wattage said:TT is about CdA/power and climbing is about w/kg. Contador might have lower CdA than Armstrong so he doesn't have to put out as many watts as Armstrong to go as fast in the TT.
If they both have similar CdA, then AC will crush everyone in the mountains and have this Tour in the pocket. We will find that out on Sunday.
