When I play indoor soccer and a guy on the other team walks in with a full Barcelona or Manchester Kit on they immediately get under my skin. Now not only do I want to beat them but Im also planning on punching their mustaches off during the game...

If the same guy walks in with just the shorts or socks of a formentioned teams Im not as angry. Weird.

Something about blazing a full kit (especially of a team I dislike) just tips me off....

As for cycling, wearing old team kits is cool to me, new kits, not so cool...

Postal and discovery kits need to be sacrificed to the very deep ocean gods

So what do people think of Valverde riding in pro team kit, with bike and helmet when he doesn't actually race for them?

What about recent teams kits that have folded

I have a HTC jersey (ltd TdF edition (it has the french stripes on the left ab area), is it socially acceptable to wear jerseys like this while out with your club?

Other examples could be Radioshack and Skil Shimano (as they have changed names due to sponser or mergers?

If it's "your club" as in you being a club member, wear the club jersey. That's just how it's done, and most clubs demand that anyway.
Otherwise, I would ask the guys you're going to ride with, and not some dudes on the internet. After all, they're the ones who'll have to accept it.

I don't think anybody really cares, certainly not in the groups I ride in.

+1. Knock yourself out, wear whatever jersey you like unless it's a race. The less common the team kit the better. On that note I just ordered some La Vie Claire kit from the UK - can't wait!
