Interview with Romain Bardet, Ag2r team leader and one of the main characters of yesterday stage.

romain-bardet-photo-max-ppp.jpg

Hi Romain, first congratulations for the great stage you've done yesterday winning one minute on Van Garderen and other favourites. Now u are the 7th of the GC. How do you feel?

RB:"This was a great stage for us. I thought of try to enter the breakway of the day but i stayed in the peloton for finally attack in La Redoute with Betancur. The important thing is that i have taken advantage of my terrain, which is a key aspect if u want to make a good GC."

That's something i want to know. Which would be a good result for Romain Bardet?

RB:"My goals are the podium and a stage win. This is the only valid result for me."

Wow. Ambitious. Is Carlos Betancur going to help you in the mountain stages or he'll have a free role?

RB:"Betancur wil be a key piece in my movements. At the moment i am the best classified. The team have two cards to play."

Who do you think are your big rivals in the fight for the podium?

RB:"Its too early yet for bet for something. But i would say i have seen Tom Slagter very strong. Also the Astana pair will be hard opponents. Instead of be far in the GC i see the colombians too. It will be complicated to follow them in the mountains... And of course Van Garderen and Talansky. They have a great advantage."

A podium?

RB:"1° Pinot 2° Van Garderen 3° Bardet."

That's all Romain. Thanks and good luck.

RB:"Au revoir"

The first week is being very hard for the riders. Stages of more than 200 kms. Many differences in the stages and the GC... The old times are arriving again. Classic cycling. Real cycling. And the best is still for come.

OGE looks very strong, I thing they could take the TTT. BMC, OPQS, and Radioshack also look good. Movistar to place well, they are good in TTT's.

You know what would be really awesome though...if Euskaltel won. :D
Or even better...Colombia winning...with only 5 riders!
