The shocking news is they wasted a high Nieve placing yesterday, instead of saving Porte and GThomas for him today as domestiques so that Nieve could finish with the lead group (of which he did since at least the Dauphine).

Instead, they wasted everything. As you might know, once guys from the break are caught, they pay for their extra effort (ok, Majka survived. Maybe, just maybe because he rode grouppeto the last two weeks ;)).

And I tell you again: As long guys from inside the T-20s are in the break, they won´t survive. It´s about WT points for other teams, not joking around with trying to bring out someone new every year to win a GT.

Nieve lost over 6 minutes on Majka fair and square today and even lost 3 minutes to Simon Yates. It's pretty clear he was in no shape at all to finish the stage in the leading bunch.

... and we don´t know how things would have gone if he wasn´t forced to go into the break today, wasting energy with extra effort.
But what we know, and what I and Jean-Claude Leclercq can´t believe is how they wasted his high placing yesterday for nothing. Hard facts versus what if´s...
Thus we should leave it here before going in circles.

I was joking, cycling and miracles ,no no that is not possible, these 2 words are in conflict with each other.Still you should give that guy some support, after all not everybody can win a GT at age 391:D

... actually no one can, not even LA in his 2nd comeback at age 263...

Lopez, Kiri and Eisel

So any explanation for Lopez, Eisel and 'fatty' Kiriyenka riding at the back of the peloton all day ?

Kiriyenka is looking well fed these days.

Why isnt anyone asking why the wheels have fallen off the Sky Train ?

I remember Vasil driving the peloton for what seemed like hundreds of kms in last year's PV (Henao was leading). Up and down, many stages. One of the most hilarious performances I've seen in recent times.

Now Vasil is a grupetto rider.

What reason do they have to ride at the front for? No Froome, Porte is out of the GC fight, no sprinter to contend for the finish on any stage. Their only chance lies in getting into a breakaway and hoping it succeeds.

chest infection, it seems it is going around in the Sky bus. Side effect from long term doping?

You mean Friday, he collapsed on stage 13's chamrousse. Which was only the 2nd big mountain stage.

Don't know why they didn't do sky train on any stage before this stage. Maybe there just hasn't been a need for it, maybe Porte's not good enough to handle it like Froome or Wiggins, maybe there is something wrong with them (in whatever sense, clinic or not clinic, you think). I don't really know except that since Porte fell out of contention they haven't had any reason to ride at the front.

But it seems this season the entire Sky team have been pretty crap more then a few times. Questioning this is probably something that should be done.

To be honest it was all guns blazing from the start of the year.

Then from from March. Mass pull outs, getting sick, Heano, bad back, Dawg TUEs etc.

Now what was the trigger point at that time?

Whats plan D?

Nieve also seems like a shadow of his euskaltel self. How is that possible?

Sky appear to be scared to dope at the moment.

Maybe the UCI told them the party was over, Zorzoli can't fly solo anymore? The wheels have fallen off the wagon. Even if Dawg was still in who would do the climbs for him? Only G.
Wiggo must be loving this Tour.

One of the best

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/bra...-from-the-problems-of-the-2014-tour-de-france

Brailsford on Froome today:

"He's certainly one of our best riders,"

What does this mean

One of the best...??

Surely this is an insult to Froome?
Can't imagine how the same sentence would play out if it was Vino on Nibali
or Riis on Contador...

Maybe preparing for the time when he's no longer there, or maybe they already have the next guy ready for next year....

I would not feel too comfortable if I was Froome...

SKY has proven to be unpredictable in this matter..
Who was talking of Froome in 2010 when Wiggins was their GC-guy to be?

Furthermore transfer window is not even open yet (oficially of course)
Rumours of Pinot goinng to SKY and DB publicly said that his next aim was for a frenchman to win the Tour...
This was of course before things went wrong for SKY in the Tour..
Now he seems to be less bombastic in his comments....

Froome is their best rider by an incredible margin. No one comes even close.

Looks like Dawg and Sir Dave aren't best mates.

remy di gregorio was on skys radar about 6 years back when they were putting together their program. that was a year after RdG had a breakout Dauphine.

Libertine Seguros' memory is better than mine since i gave up following the sport in around 2008

Where is the love :p

Seriously...
No team spirit at all in this team..
Just have a look at Tinkoff-Saxo...

-AC apologising to his team-mates after his DNF (riding up a mountain with a broken leg)
-Rogers telling him that he'd done nothing but make them proud (and crying in interwiev after stage)
-Maj-cat dedicating his win to AC
-Pictures of Riis and Tinkoff looking like secret lovers
-Tinkoff crying of joy after stage win...
Etc...etc..

And at the same time we have Brailsford saying the acid test will be how they will learn from this tour and at the same time calling Froome "one" of the best in his team...

Seriously this post should be in the "inept" thread but got carried away.. :p

Ahh yes... I remember there was a lot of hype about him...

And yes, I have noted he is quite the man to go to in these matters, pretty impressive i think :)

Like the final scene in Jerry Maguire. Brailsford is Jay Mohr and doesn't know how to hug his stars.

Tinkoff does...

Well he goes on to clarify that for us.
he's won the Tour de France before...

Ya' know. Just in case we forgot about...last year.

One would think that such a thing might fall under the category of: "goes without saying." But hey, this once-in-a-generation, "crazy adaptive physiology" talent of theirs is just part of the Sky stable.

"One of." That is precious.
