Skys lineup should be:

Wiggins, Froome, Uran, Henao, Sitsov, Rodgers, Thomas, EBH, & Porte...

Pretty much all either TT'ers or climbers :D Leave out Cav!

Thomas won't do it ( he is doing the Olympics ). Henao will probably do the Vuelta. They will not leave out Cav for 5 reasons.
1. He is British
2. He is the WC
3. He is the defending green jersey
4. He has won 20 stages in 4 years.

5. He is British.

1, 2, 3 and 5 are completely irrelevant to the argument, given number 4.

He is World's Best Sprinter. That's enough.

I don't think he will hold that title for this year however. I think Greipel will be more successful, especially since he tends to do more races.

Riders 61 & 62 worth noting.

Year before that Greipel did 14 more race days. Year before that, Cav did 19 more.

Aside from it not having any basis in fact, I'm not even sure what the volume of races has to do with the argument you're trying to make anyway. If it's the primary basis of your belief in the first clause of that sentence, you have an interesting definition of success.

Just wondering whether nordhaug is pushing himself into the tour squad?

Probably still an outside shot. It seems they'll be going the route of riders like Rogers, Porte, Sivtsov who can do both flat + uphill to help both Cav and Wiggins/Froome.

Giro or Vuelta where he can ride more for himself wouldn't be a bad thing.

He might have more racing days, but Greipel shows his form a lot more throughout the season. Cav in 2010 and 2011 was rather pathetic when it was not a Grand Tour. Usually a sprinter can win a lot of small races when not on his best form... Cippolini, Petacchi, etc

Cav has often used these smaller races as training, just like Andy Schleck, because he probably doesn't train enough by himself. Cav might be successful, but he could have won a lot more already and that's a fact.

i always felt that nordhaug wasn't pushing his limits until this season,he has a big engine.now i read that this winter he did a lot of cross-country skiing and that he will attack the vlaanderen classics:eek: it will be interesting...
also bobby julich became from november his personal trainer,he's good no doubt

Vlaanderen classics? As in cobblestones? That must be a mistake, he is certainly going for the ardennes only.

I imagine he will go to the Ardennes, maybe the Giro (but aren't Sky basically just going for sprints there?) and perhaps look to play a fairly prominent domestique role at the Vuelta?

"Fairly prominent domestique role", like Froome? :p

Hasn't there been threads about sky's GT lineup the past few years? Why is that?

English speaking forum and British team means extra interest in the team. Add to that the scandinavian parts of the team and you also have us scandinavians interested. Then you also have Sky's outspoken goal of winning the Tour coupled with Sky's lack of support for a GT leader in the first years which means that people are interested in discussing the issue.

They've actually said the opposite about the Giro. They plan to go there without a GC rider and attack every day. Flat stages they'll obviously play the Cav card whenever possible.

And it's a tad daft to complain about the existence of a thread that is approaching 200 posts. Better to have them here than spreading out into other threads all the time.

Apart from winning the WC, Scheldeprijs, a couple of stages in the Tour of Britain (and gifting one to a team mate) and another in Oman, that is. Other than Australia and Qatar (where he was getting training miles in his legs and had a nasty crash in the latter), TdS (where there were no big bunch sprints), the Cobbled Monuments (where he obviously wasn't there to win) and G-W (where we had a mechanical), in which races was he pathetic?

He can be accused of many things, some with justification, but not winning enough races? Really?!

Yes, really. The Worlds was a joke, he could have won that on his Qatar form yesterday lol. Do you Brits take Scheldeprijs seriously? We Belgians don't.

He could easily win 20+ races each season. He already won 2 Giro stages last year and his form was pretty bad to say the least.

Ah ok. Sprints and generally try and animate the race - should be good to watch.
