This is an interesting thread to bring up. Especially when you see that only 4 voted for sky. Very close between them on cqranking for the year

Just spotted Sky are actually leading the points rankings for 2011 - incredible, especially with 2nd and 3rd in the Vuelta, and a weekend of Canook domination from Boasson.

And beating Garmin by 2 on the win ranking. Given how Garmin are far more set up for wins with their line-up, this really does highlight how well sky have done, and how modest Garmin have been versus expectations last January.

Sky has really stepped up their game in the small stage races (and the bigger 1 week races), which is the main reason for their ranking. I mean they won Bayern, Dauphine, Denmark, Eneco and podiumed TDU, P-N, Oman, Poitou and Route du Sud. Big contrast to last season where they barely contended the GC in any of the stage races their entered.

Garmin won more stages at the TDF and won a stage at each of the other 2 GT's. In my view Farrar and Haussler did not win as much as they could even in smaller races. Thor has done well but not collected wins everywhere which is a pity. They also won P-R.

Sky have had good riders who have placed well at practically every single race.

I think the reason is that alot of their riders tried peaking for the classics and others for the Tour, using races as training instead of trying to win.

So making this poll wasn't such a stupid thing to do on my behalf?

Sorry ACF! You were right!

Like the majority of your posts it was mindless baiting and troll babble.

the fact you have cavendish as your avatar says a lot about your character. you are a fan of an arsehole and he is clearly not that dissimilar than you.

Don't let someone bait you like that ACF. There's no need for his post but you don't need to lower yourself aswell. How would you like it if someone said that about you ir Cadel?

interesting in that Sky started very slowly but have put in consistent results since then, Garmin on the other hand started better but are now suffering a slump

i don't know if he was baiting or not. i don't really care what he says about cadel. it was clear I was joking in the post s/he was quoting due to the fact I was talking in the 3rd person about myslef. He can attack my posts all I like. I'll have a go at him and then be done with. not worth continuing on with it. If someone is annoying me and they have in the past, I don't have to read there posts and that's what I will do.

I wasnt joking and it seemed pretty clear they were baiting you. I just don't like people getting the satisfaction from deliberately baiting.

Looking at those graphs you can see the fail from Garmin. The combined Garmin/Cervelo classics squad actually had less wins in March, April and May than last year.

It's very strange, obviously the quality of victories counts for something too - I know people were saying back in March that Sky had had a better early season, but that was the part of the season they did really well in 2010 - Sky in 2010 managed a lot of good placements but this year they've learnt to convert those into wins. Obviously the 2010 results are skewed a bit by the withdrawal from the Vuelta after Txema González' death affecting their late season too.

farrar pulling out of the giro didn't help garmin's win count in may.

Isn't 31 vs. 28 wins not that impressive, as a big money team vs. a team which has surprisingly little to spend?

On the other hand, the Garmin-Cervélo merger gave them an embarrassment of riches so they didn't NEED to spend money to shore up their team.
