he was virtually dead 4 months ago so I'd say the progress is going well

brain cells do not regenerate so if he got some brain damage from all that time he spent in a coma it is very likely that he will never recover to 100% or at least a level that would allow him to return to pro cycling.

that's fantastic, but i don't think he will be back to cycling after seeing that :( half his face seems paralysed and he looks like a crippled old man walking. what a bloody shame :(

Agreed-after what he overcame-I rather see him off the bike-but he can still be involved with cycling helping youngsters to get in the sport. It's really a pity what has happened to him with the enormous potential to glow in the sport he had - I always considered him to be the next Luis Herrera due to the way he climbs & most of all- as Lucho- the resemble of this humble man with farming background who dared to challenge the Europeans in their own land.....
best wishes to him :)

with God all things are possible, so please, let's continue to pray for Juan :)

After the last message I read in this topic about him having to learn everything, from talking to walking etc. I am quite surprised and happy to see this video. For two reasons actually, its also heartwarming to see the support and the welcome he gets.

Hopefully he can continue getting better :)

It's just good to see that he's alive.

He's made great progress since the accident, so he may make it back with luck. Great to see how much support he has - thank's for posting the link.

@Magnus and RedheadDane: thanks for the links.

This is exciting news. I'm really happy for him and his family. He looks really good there doesn't he!? And the family too.

edit: originally said "there there"... meant "good there"..........sheesh. and it's still early in the day

It's incredible that he's back on the bike, and so soon. I always wanted to see him win more Polka Dot jerseys. It was great to see another great Colombian climber.

That being said, I find it hard to think he's going to be back in the peleton. Yes, his case and Saul Raisin's are different, but I would think his doctors wouldn't clear him to race again.

I'm glad to see him back on the bike after such a scary crash and aftermath. Getting back to racing should be (and probably is) the last thing on his mind right now. His family and his recovery should come first. Best of luck to him.
