Good news. I am happy for Mauricio and his family.:)

What happened to that clot near his heart? how did they fix that? just curious.
He had an operation last week to remove the filter and check everything was OK, which was successful. That's why he's now able to leave.

Juan Mauricio Soler still very unsure if he will return to pro cycling
Still badly affected by the Tour de Suisse crash which almost cost him his life, Movistar rider Juan Mauricio Soler has moved to outpatient treatment and believes that he is making progress in his recovery. “All I can say is that I begin to see light at the end of the tunnel, but I have had difficult days and I have tackled with maturity and with faith.

“I can feed myself, can walk, but always with the help of my wife. The truth is that those things still cause me to feel vertigo,” he told elespectador.com, speaking of progress but also knowing that he has a long way to go.

in the interview he says things are startiung to go well thought. there is finally light at the end of the tunnel

Glad he's getting better! :)

Thought of something when I saw this thread was back on the front page: Whenever that happens it's come to mean something good. Think about it; it might just as well have come to mean something bad. I'm glad it's the first.

This one is a complete report. Thanks. That was actually worse than what I thought. He practically was dead, according to the Movistar doctor:

Decía tal cual: trauma craneoencefálico severo, fractura de la base del cráneo lado izquierdo, fractura de las costillas número dos a la nueve, fractura compuesta de clavícula y escápula, laceración del riñón izquierdo, fractura compuesta del cuello del pie izquierdo y fractura del malar y temporal del pómulo, también el izquierdo.

Translation:

He said as such: severe head trauma, fractured base of skull left side, broken ribs two to number nine, compound fracture of clavicle and scapula, left kidney laceration, compound fracture of the neck of the left foot and malar fracture temporary and cheekbone, also left.

I wish Soler and his family all the best.

it's impossible to say but soler will for sure try everything to get back to racing it's all he ever had and ever wanted. if he returns I hope he rides in colombia and not in europe. is better forhim but unfrtounately soler seemed allways hellbend on racing in europe

Part of me hopes that he'll make it back and part of me hopes that he'll call it a day, but I'm sure that he'll want to come back.

If he does come back, I think that he'll want to race with Movistar. I think he feels that he's still go unfinished business in Europe.

Whatever happens, I hope that he makes a full recovery and that things work out well for him and his family.
