finally good news i don't even care if he will ever race again.

yes, this is very encouraging news, and pray he continues to improve. If he heals completely, he still may not race given the severity of the head trauma. I'm no doc, but know that serious concussions have ended many a career in other sport. I hope it does not turn out like that, but as you say as long as he can live a normal life that would be outstanding.

Very difficult for his family, friends, and team:(

It's good that he can get back to a Spanish-speaking environment. It has to be more tiring for his brain (and his family) to be surrounded by other languages.

one of my cycling mags has a pic of Soler in polka dots for today's stage :(

definitely wishing him a full recovery -- whether he races again or no.

Totally agree. As long as he recovers enough to lead a normal life, that's all that matters at the moment.

Thanks for the updates everyone. This is one I've been trying to follow as close as possible. The one quote from the 'moved to spain' link that struck me:

The fact that they even flew was a great/good sign. Well something positive anyway

Soler moved to Spain today.

and a lovely win by Costa.

eta: did they just say Intxausti abandoned? (watching in french with translator talking over Costa's spanish so it was all very confusing)

That is good news for Soler. Glad he is taking small steps forward!

I didn't know Intxausti abandoned. Read it on the stage thread. Only caught the last two words of Rui's interview. Had muted the TV, couldn't stand P and P talking. Only to look back and see Rui. By the time I turned on the sound, only heard Paul translating.

Some more news: Soler has started to eat a few solids and has started talking a little bit: http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/blogs/index?entryID=1339019&name=georgina_ruiz_sandoval&cc=7586

The article is quite long and in Spanish. Apparently Soler and his familiy are getting a lot of support, particularly from other Movistar riders and Uran but also from guys like Cancellara and Cunego, which is nice to hear. It seems the move to Spain has helped him a lot.

Just found another link, with a bit more info. Apparently he watched a bit of the Tour stage yesterday and recognised Uran on the podium. He has also recognised his wife and brother-in-law, and asked after his son and his mother. I don't want to get carried away, but this seems like great news.

Soler's condition reminds me of the same condition my aunt is in since christmas of 2010. I wouldn't call that good news, but at least he's alive.

Well, there have been a couple of different reports now suggesting they expect him to recover, so there's that. There's reason to be mildly optimistic.

That's fantastic. At the end of the day, who cares if he can't cycling competitively if he can be alive and be a loving father and husband instead.
