No "kinda" about it. Look up her threadsAfrank said:I don't understand what your trying to say is going on here?![]()
I don't see anything weird at all about Gerrans and Impey both wearing yellow.
You kinda sound like a conspiracy theorist.

Aussie viewers? Well for a start, Aussies doing well at the Tour since Phil Anderson in the 80's and a consistent flow of successful riders and/or results ever since has taken care of the TV ratings - no need for Phat Pat's interference.
Secondly, Australia's population is just 23 Million - a small fraction of Europe and USA. What is the potential economic gain by a massive increase in Aussie viewers? I'd say about 1 or 2 percent at most - hardly warranting conspiracy theories in the Clinic.
Australia has been well ahead of Britain in the country rankings until the rise of Wiggins, SKY and now Froome (all in the last two years). It was the success of Aussies in the Tour ever since Phil Anderson and culminating in Cadel's win that created the impetus for Green Edge. Your inference in this thread that Aussies have come from nowhere is at best ill informed and at worst ignorant.

Look at how the Cycling world has changed in just 1 year....who would ever have predicted that Great Britain, Australia and Africa would have been leading / winning and expected to win the TDF....and who owns SKY ? who will tune into Sky to watch the next cycle races, next years Tour ? its all helping to increase Cyclings profile.
and don't bother mentioning Lance...he's already yesterdays fish and chip paper.
Cookster15 said:You still haven't made your case on economic grounds -or are you now widening your theory to include Britain as well? Without adding British success into the equation the potential economic gains of your conspiracy theory simply doesn't add up. BTW - No, Lance never came into my thoughts.
Sorry but the term I use for all this is 'far fetched'.
Cycle Chic said:well if the Australian population is 23million...that's quite a lot of revenue if the subscriptions to Sky increase. And its not just viewing figures which of course means money....what about sponsorship revenues ? wont these wins mean an increase in sponsors interest ? look at the exposure that Orica are getting...Jayco.
Its the English speaking market that Cycling wants...Spain, France and Italy are stagnant.

Cadel considers himself French.Cycle Chic said:nb. Cadel Evans was some time ago - and he lives in Switzerland and considers himself French.....we now have Orica flying the true aussie flag.
Dr. Maserati said:That would be interesting, except for the small fact Sky are not in Australia and the tour is hosted by SBS.

News Corp are an Australian company.
News Corp is on the Sky jersey.
Rupert Mudoch is Australian by blood until media ownership laws made him change his citizenship.
Sky have a different name in Australia. But it's still Sky.
Sky couldn't be anymore Australian. More Australian than British.
Yes, Pedro?

Cookster15 said:Sure but as Peterst6906 said this conspiracy is then about getting Australians to subscribe to watch a race that is available in Australia on a free-to-air government tv station right across the country.

Cycle Chic said:do I have to say it again - I am not accusing orica of doping...I am stating that this is a UCI set up to encourage a wider audience for cycling...English speaking...it started with the UK last 2 years and recently the huge exposure that MTN Quebeka have. Its now Australia.
You seem to be clinging to the tv subscriptions - that's only part of the revenues that add to the money pot.
And as you correctly point out - it is very small margins that got Orica the wins....a little easier to 'manipulate' than minutes.

Bernie's eyesore said:How, though, do you fix it so that OGE win the team time trial by a second, Gerrans wins a stage by millimetres and Impey gets yellow by a matter of seconds from dozens of riders without even coming close to winning a stage?
