Why did it take so long for him to finally come to Europe? His own choice, or pressure from the team to stay in Colombia? Because in the Giro bio back then, he was way better than someone like Winner Anacona.

a long story which started by simply him wanting to stay in colombia for the money(similar things happened with duarte and henao). but eventually he signed a 2 year contract after colorado 2011 which mesa didn't want him out of so he could only come to europe in 2014. but by now there's much less interest in him from european teams compared to 2010 after giro bio, when he was just 20(he also rode very strong colorado 2011). but I'm sure after next year he will be hot for any wt team looking for a climber.

Let's hope so, because back in 2010 he was indeed marvellous. Will be a interesting season next year for many Colombians, in terms how they cope with the transfer to Europe (Beltran, Dayer Quintana, Sebastian Henao, Diaz) or in a WT squad (Atapuma, Arredondo, Chaves).

Btw, do you know how the situation of Juan Chamorro is? He is going to stay with 4-72 Colombia right? Or does he have already had talks with the likes of Colombia-Coldeportes?

except heiner they will all stay with 4-72. however recently rumors came to me that maybe their sponsor will quit. when before it seemed more like they would get an extra money injection, which is why they could keep all their riders

Thx for the info, i thought he would perhaps tried the step to Europa, after two years with the u23. But i can understand that he want to say goodbye by winning the overall in l'Avenir, after his frustrating race this year.

There is some resistance to 4-72 in some circles inside Colombian cycling, including directives and journalists. While Team Colombia is praised to no end, 4-72 is frequently dismissed, or harshly criticized when they fail.
It's a general belief in Colombian fans this might relate to 4-72's strict anti-doping program.

After the Ortiz show at stage 7 ITT, stage 8 went to Javier Eduardo Gomez, who beat Horacio Gallardo and Maky Roman Castillo.

Nice to see Gomez win, i think he can cope a higher level in the future.

1. Javier Eduardo Gomez Pineda
2. Horacio Gallardo
3. Maky Roman Castillo

yes. 4-72 are clealry anti doping and colombian media is split in this regard. many don';t want to report on doping problems and positives. 4-72 get tons of hate by these journalists like hector urrego. in all fairness 4-72 and salda and luisa act like idiots with huge ego';s they seem to be their own worst enemies. and it has withheld them from being part of coldeportes for instance. saldarriaga imo is no doubt the best cyclign trainer in the world. but he is relegated to working with 2nd rate talents in 4-72

I wouldn't be so sure. soliz has had far worse odds in past vuelta's in which he came back more than 20 minutes in a few stages(2009). also the itt alone will make soliz take at least 5-6 minutes on moreno and everbody else. soliz high altitude timetrialing is something beyond anything. indurain and martin could dream of gaps like these:

1 25 BOL19850109 SOLIZ, Oscar EBS á 00:55:38
2 45 VEN19881027 GALVIZ, Carlos LTA á 00:03:41.94
3 2 COL19771217 CAMARGO, Luis Fernando BOY á 00:04:25.88
4 1 COL19730118 LADINO, Gregorio BOY á 00:04:34.54
5 61 ECU19850614 GUAMA, Byron PIC á 00:04:37.75
6 6 COL19810309 NEYSA, Mauricio BOY á 00:04:49.33
7 23 COL19861108 PEREZ, Wilmar EBS á 00:05:20.26
8 5 COL19740904 FONCESA, Graciano BOY á 00:05:37.24
9 62 ECU19790330 GALLEGOS, Jorge PIC á 00:05:42.23
10 72 ECU19781110 CALPA, Ramiro GLA á 00:05:48.79

Those gaps are pretty damn impressive.

Right now that you people have brought up 4-72 Colombia's anti doping thing, there's a reason why I have stuck with cycling in Colombia and other Latin American countries, the lack of doping scandals like the ones currently going on in the bigger leagues.

In Mexico, the Vuelta a Tamaulipas has also been going on. I have yet to find something on the first stage, but have everything up until today.

Stage 2 was won by Jesus Ortiz who made a last ditch effort to break from the main group which resulted in the stage win.
tamaulipas1%282%29.jpg

Stage 3 was won by Luis Alvarez. Not exactly a youngster anymore but (Ryo correct me if I'm wrong), he's one of the best climbers that Mexico currently has. Not really sure if this was a tough, mountainous stage.

Stage 4 was won by Jose Alfredo Aguirre. At the end of this stage, Aguirre's teammate Jose Antonio Alarcon was now leader of the Vuelta a Tamaulipas.

Stage 5 was won by Ricardo Torres

damn . EPM in this kind of form would slaughter the european peloton
awesome team

The race was more competitive last year with Movistar and Canels Turbo in the mix. This year, looks like the Costa Ricans are the only ones that can somewhat match them. But this race is already won. Not surprising though, I knew it from the moment the first stage finished.
Plus, there's also less than 45 riders this time for some reason.

there are some scandals like recently jonathan millan of gw shimano, he cried on national tv admitting he was doped and how bad it was. gw(sponsor) fired luis cely and canceled all plans to go ct next year and come to europe

mexican cycling is incredibly on the run right now. a lot of money again. many foreigners signed by mexican teams like jose alaracon, honorio machadoi, bunch of colombians and some other nations too like spain. is a very good sign and lots of teams and youngsters. they also focus a lot in track now

I mean Soliz, and i was confused about the post a couple of pages earlier, where you put a TT-result, not knowing that was a earlier TT, and not actually from this race. Next time i have to read more than the result;)

In Vuelta a Bolivia, Soliz (BOL Pio Rico) won the CRI and moved to 2nd place in GC. Salvador Moreno (COL Claro) kept the leader jersey.
No official data as of now.

Based on what I heard on Bolivian radio Moreno keeps over 5 minutes on Soliz, with only half-stage of 121Km missing. Returning to La Paz is mostly flat with a descent at the end (from 4079m to 3292m in 20 Km)
