I except some fireworks on that climb and it would be interested.
Cannondale should give a free role for Gatto to try instead of put all their money for hilairous-Viviani:eek:

Technical overview:
Typical Giro flat stage, with its trademark bump in the end. As you can see from the detail, there should be something like 400m at 10% in there, unless the software is entirely wrong (and mind you, it could actually be the case).

Does anybody have more info about this?
Cause I've seen Max Lelli's video on this stage and there was no mention of such a difficult stretch.
Maybe 2.5km at 4-5%.

Even from the sick bed this stage is Kittel's to lose.

I think today's for Bouhanni or Mezgec (if Giant gets the timing right, as he needs a high speed lead-out).

Agreed, Willem, but the race is tomorrow, not today. Today, they rest.

Ha, thanks, that's a stupid mistake. Before I deleted it, I'd written a paragraph about today's rest day and how the result of tomorrow's stage depends on the recovery of some individual riders, after last week's crashes.

You'd have to ask Eshnar for clarification (he wrote it).

Map of the finish:

The road book about the finish:

After crossing Fidenza, the last kilometers run slightly uphill, up to Bagni di Tabiano, where the route features a short climb, followed by a fast, difficult descent leading to Salsomaggiore Terme, about 3 km before the finish. The next 2 km are marked by a few roundabouts and quite sharp bends. Flamme rouge: the course is easier, the entire final part bends slightly. The home stretch is 120- m long, on 7.5-m wide, asphalted roadway.

I tried to map it again and compare it with the images I get from Google.
I reckon the hardest part is that km before the 8000mt to go in the map, especially those two bends in the town of Bagni di Tabiano. Roughly 1km at 7%.
Nothing scary, but likely enough for someone to try and wreak havoc.

Given the tendency of rainy weather this time of year in Italy, it's amazing that the Giro organizers decided to make every sprint finish a twisty-turny affair. If you aren't a great bike handler, you can't really catch a break in these sprints.

If Matthews isnt injured too badly, this could be one for him considering the team and personal momentum currently. Otherwise i hope Ulissi has a go.

It's the same in every race these days - sprinter who gets the least dizzy wins

Puncheur to stay away and win.
According to road book, peloton won't make up too much time in descent,so there will be only 3k left, with road furniture etc. break has an advantage imo:cool:

I'm looking at that hill and can't help but to think it'll be a sad day if it goes unused.

Someone wreck that field, please.
